Can I have some thoughts on this please??

I ticked every box for "do not adopt out to this person" when i was in England but still managed to adopt 6 dogs.
I went to smaller rescues that had the time and resources to consider each home by itself. There is hundreds in England.

You could all be talking about the rescue I work for! In our case the committee call the shots, the staff, manager and homecheckers have no say over the conditions of adoption, which in our case are no under 5s, no more than 4 hours alone (oh and coming home at dinner isn't good enough either!) and a fully enclosed garden. I regularly have to turn away lovely people who would be great for the dogs, and take the flack for it too, but in the end I have no sway over the charity committee and their draconian rules.

Tbh for once I agree with the RSPCA there, not a dog for the faint hearted. If she works and has children under 10 I would imagine she would struggle to give the dog the time and exercise it needs.

Yeah I see whare you are coming from, but they would not let her adopt ANY dog, as she has a 5 year old.

The dog is going to work with her OH- (but he is a mechanic, so its not like he will be active) but totally agree once he is fully grown I think she will struggle with exercising it.

I'm in Ireland...alot of the smaller rescues appear to be more like overflows for bigger rescues and are still governed by their regulations but am not giving up! May end up getting a pup and revisit a rescue in the future if in a more suitable house. It is quite exciting to be in the frame of mind where I am ready to consider the next little friend!

How far would you be willing to go?

To be honest it depends on the dog! I'm in the South East but originally from Dub and not averse to travelling! I'm also determined to approach it sensibly and not fall for the first dog or pup I see! We need to be a match
