So please can someone give me a kick to go and get Sol in and hack her out ?

To be perfectly honest , I keep screwing her up . Everytime A see's her he see's her being ridden (by my YM or whoever) and says to carry on , but as soon as I'm left to it things go wrong . He's coming to see her Weds to re-asses and he's bound to say she just needs a little more time .

I more than anything want her to be ok and to do whatever he says but everytime I sit on her I get that hideous sinking feeling . She's incredibly sharp and unhappy (yes yes my fault) and even though I trust her to look after me all I need to do is set her straight and move her through it and I can't seem to do it now I know there is something wrong

O don't really want to do this but *kick* - I can understand why you are feeling the way you are but I really don't think you are screwing her up. She is your horse and you are never going to do anything to hurt her - go and sit on her - try and forget she has any 'issues' and go for a little trundle. Can't be any worse than the 2 hours (yes 2 hours) I spent to day going pretty much no where on my idiot who has decided leaving the yard is too scary!!

Good luck - go and have a mooch and remind yourself why you love her.

It's an awful thing isn't it? And so many of us have been in similar situations.

Well, you have a decision to make. You either leave her as a field ornament or you get on and go.

Do one step at a time. Short little walks, building quietly up to longer rides - and try not to think about the issues. You'll be aware of them obviously, but try not to get fixated.


I have to say that when Amy was comming back in to work after 6 months off due to lameness I did have someone else doing all the work - but it was because it was winter and I couldn't ride her in the day on the roads, so paid someone to do it for me. It did make it easier.

However, the weather is going to be lovely for the next few days. Grab a friend to babysit you and off you toddle for 20 mins.

A is slowing getting Peed off with me I'm sure because I don't appear to be co-operating with his recommended routine and phone every 20 seconds saying she's lame (which I should accept and ignore!) but I can't .

I just need to get on and do it but every time I do something goes minutally wrong (rider error as usual) and I don't have the get up and go to fix it again for nothing

Is that sarcasm? I can't tell! I'd happily pay my instructor to do it if I were you. Its a complete wast of time if you are not sure as you will be transferring all your nerves to her, which wont help if she's naughty to start with!

No , she's not dangerous , infact she's not even remotely nasty for a horse that isn't in work and is still as banbyish as a 3yo!

No instructor at present (as I haven't ridden) and I couldn't just ring someone up and ask them to ride her as they'd be appalled...

Know just what you mean, used to cry every time I had to get on the Dizzy one. Luckily Friend was there to do the required kicking at the time. Still remember the feeling so well. Ho hum.

If you want your Sol back, and I know you do, this is the only way to do it

But thats the thing , I'm not living in cloud coockoo land .. she is never going to be 'my sol' ever again . I am never going to get that feeling of 'wow I can't wait to do this , this and this' on her .

I'm not sure what to do about it all now .. I can't rely on people having to chase me about really . I need to have that 'oh ok you will co-operate' moment and be happy to sit on her again and I wouldn't mind , but that comes in time I guess

Yes she is, it's just a different version hunny. I know what you mean - I have days when I almost forget about the Dizz's pelvis, but then a little niggle reminds me and I realise I'm building a scenario up in my head that is never going to be. It's how it is. I have to take what I can and enjoy what I can. Dizz knows no different, she's happy, she doesn't know of my dreams, of what I sacrifice to have her, of discussions with vets and whoever else. Cr*p though it is hunny, it's the best we've got. Hugs.
