And as another unhappy customer I would avoid like the plague
Oh how I wish I hadn't believed those reviewsAnother very unhappy previous customer here as well. See the other thread currently going titled "Horse back to Dealer - still no refund" for more details. She is a wizard at getting negative reviews removed and, in fact, must spend most of her day on various forums and facebook groups monitoring for negative reviews as they disappear quickly - it can be really hard to research her properly. Don't believe all the glowing reviews!
I did say in one of my comments on a thread about Broadhill stables that I would update with the outcome of my experience. At least one of the threads is closed for further comments, so I'm giving an update here, for the benefit of anyone else either considering the 14 day trial or currently waiting to get their money back after not keeping the horse. Before I give some information I have a request for any comments: please stick to sharing relevant experience in a way that could help others, that you could evidence if asked to by the forum admin. Also no need for harsh or abusive comments or even chiming in with sympathy (however kindly meant). Admin will remove any unsuitable comments, so they are pointless anyway. So here goes.I completely agree with this.
Thank you for writing this. I agree 100% with everything you have said. I have had a very similar experience recently. First a recap. I took a horse on the 14 day trial period. He turned out not to be at all suitable, and I have no issue with the agreement to accept him back, there were no quibbles, it was all discussed very professionally, and I consider that any horse can show different behaviour than expected when they change home, despite best efforts for a calm settling in period before asking anything of them.
The issues began with the refund not being made within the 7 days stipulated in the contract, By then I was aware of others stating they'd had problems getting their refund in a timely way, so I was quickly quite insistent on being repaid asap.
Payment was due on 18.12.25. The refund came in £1K increments, the first being on 29.12.25, the next on 16.01.26 and then further payments followed until finally paid off on 23.1.26. In a phone conversation I was offered £500 to cover my return transport costs as a goodwill gesture. I declined as I had always accepted that was my expense if the trail didn't work out, this was offered again in a message conversation and I again declined. The £500 was still added to the final payment. I have donated it to Motor Neurone Disease Scotland. The process of getting repaid was very stressful, involving many messages, payments not coming on dates promised and not by deadlines I set.
I did complete all the online form for the Claims Court, submitted it and was about to pay the court fee when a phone call offering further payment was made. They don't progress the claim at all until the court fee is paid, so my claim was not progressed.
I've given factual, documented information above. The only opinion I want to offer is this; Broadhill stables have many happy customers who have clearly found great horses and ponies, my recommendation to others is not to enter into the 14 day trial contract, but go the alternative route of viewing, trying, and if suitable buying without the 14 day trial period. Please note I was more than fully repaid eventually, and in the contacts I've had with others, those who are not still waiting, have been repaid over a period of time. I've no reason to think the issue is refunds not being made, it's the nature of the delays experienced that I want to make others aware of. I've weighed up carefully whether to share my experience, but ultimately as my only wish is to prevent others having the stressful experience I had, I've decided it's important to share, as this information isn't emerging in reviews. There are many worse things happening in the world of buying horses, but this is still an experience I'd rather not have had.
Me too- feels slightly better that I’m not the only oneOh how I wish I hadn't believed those reviews![]()
Seems to have been flooded in the last day or so with positive reviews, many of them anonymous. I’m not saying there are no happy customers but I smell a rat.You might want to check this out
