Can someone tell me about ARABS ?

Mine are usually lovely manes, but this winter the attached neck covers on the rugs seem to have attacked them.:(

Sure Ned can join as an honoary member, especially if he keeps up his endurance!;)

My 5 yr old is devoted. I've been there from the moment she hit the deck (was the only person who could get near my mare who decided to foal at midday in the field). As soon as I come into the yard, she's at the fence watching me. I go near the field, she's at the gate. Happy just to stand with me in the field. When I go into the field I've always felt like she is watching my back, I've got no worries about anyone sneaking up on me, the bodygaurd is on duty. Very reassuring when you're checking them all in the middle of winter, pitch black in the field furthest from the house!

OP what is the breeding of your horse? Danteen, Ibn Morafic II or other? I bred two half breds, by red house condor. One is gone to an international endurance rider, the other to a hunting home (he had more of his dam in him). Love them. If someday I have time I would love a PB fro myself to wobble about on. Fantastic horses. Not too many over here!

Wow I love all your pictures :D

I love Arabs, when I was 15 I had the chance to compete an Anglo Arab, she was fantastic jumped wasn't the word for it, she glided over fences lol

Then 10yrs ago I bought my first Arab Frank:) he was an un-touched 4yr old iron grey, he did very well showing but didn't grow big enough so had to sell him, it broke my heart and haven't owned a horse since :( he had a big personality was kind but sharp and could trot for hours.

Would love to own another but would need to lose a bit more weight for one and marry a guy with money lol

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos though bought back some great memories ;)

@Gadetra ---- I dont know her sire or dam :( but everyone that sees her says that she is defiently a half arab ! She has all the characteristics aswell . I will post a picture later because im on my phone at the moment :)

I think I only want arabs from now on. I've got an arab mare and am also lucky enough to ride a black arab stallion for a friend (amazing chap!).

This is my mare (pic from a couple of years ago):

Tinypony - is your arab by Psyche's Spirit (going by the name?).

Is there a breeders name on the passport or is it a white no info job? Could try a little detective work on it!

Mine is a 21 year old Trakehner x arab. I believe she thinks she's pure arab! The kindest bravest horse I've ever known.

I love your mare, she's lovely!

Celebrity is a Padron's Psyche son. I know, what's he doing in my humble field??? He's on Allbreeds.

Oh, and that's another thing about Arab people. They give their horses weird names and then bandy the names about on the internet and get all excited. :-))

What you will find is that the 'amazing bond' alluded to by others on here manifests as the horse trying to get in a portaloo/toilet block with you. You take the horse out, want to pop for a wee, so you leave them with someone they know, but oh no that's not good enough... Cue worried 'why are you abandoning me?' neighing and horse trying to come with you. Luckily, with some persuasion, she did wait outside and settled for staring at the door and then shouting at me when I opened it again.

On the plus side, it made me realise that she did actually know who I was. :p

Ready for a pic overload!!

Dennis

@Gadetra--- the passport is a white book no info job

Ah tis a mystery so. unless he has a name reg'd on passport? If he's been through Goresbridge or Cavan he would come up on their systems. White passports are pants! It should be like the TB's where you have to register them before 6 months old, then you have breeder and breeding etc. Although saying that I only sent mine in when he was 8 months old. Turned out I hadn't posted it, it was sitting in the press gah! In fairness, it's a green has all his info on job. You live and learn (or check the press more than once every 6 months!)

Thank you! She's by Psyche's Spirit. She wasn't blessed with a crazy name though (she's Moonbeam, also on Allbreeds).

He's rather lovely (they all are - loving all these arab photos). Padron's Psyche is stunning!

My 2 arabs. Top pic is him as a baby, standing with his dun coloured half brother. He lost the bay colour, and is now 4 years old, and a lovely roan. The grey is 20 now, still hasn't become "sensible" !

Not sure if these will work as I'm not very good at uploading photos.

Here is my 15 year old boy, El Khaishan (Khartum x Nadejnia). I bought (or rescued, whichever way you want to look at it) him in January. I managed to track down his breeder through the track and trace forum on here, and she is helping me get him into good condition, which he hasn't been in since he left her as a two year old, so we can show him next year.
He has a heart of gold, is so eager to please, and is wonderful with my 3 year old son. Reece takes him walks like a dog and Khaishan follows him ever so slowly with his head down, completely focused on him. Reece even shares his PomBear crisps with Khaishan, and he doesn't share those with anyone! They are smitten with each other.

For the first time in years he is happy, he has a zest for life again and looks forward to working. His eyes light up when he sees his tack, and he is always looking at me as if to say "What are we going to do today mum?". He finally looks and acts like proper 'Arab' again, couldn't be happier with him :)

I have a hispano mare- Arab x Andalusian (shoot me down for having a cross between 2 very very fiery, hot blooded breeds :D)

I must admit she is my biggest project yet and has tested me and made me feel slightly in-capable at times due to he fiery nature and incredibly clever (too clever for her own good) mind... but, I adore her and she is so talented. We've come such a long which in such a short space of time. She is incredibly versitle, moves like a dream in dressage, jumps the moon in jumping, and even keeps up with my friends TB out galloping! ;). So incredibly willing, brave and bold and picks up things incredibly quickly. She does have cons to all this though ;), she can be an absolute madam and will try to get away with anything and everything, so I have to be very very consistent and on the ball with her constantly. In the wrong hands she'd be a nightmare, but luckilly for her and me she isn't going anywhere :D.
