Please - can we have the old system back, when the posts used to stay in the same place, rather than the popular ones jump to the top?

Ok i am rather boring - but did use the forum for valuable advice - now i stand no chance as if i ask "recomend a pessoa kit" its off onto page 2 in the blink of any eye.

Also when you wanted to look back on a popular post, you always knew where to find it.

Please have a re-look at this as i for one dont like it

thanks

GW

Yep, I agree too :) I can cope with change, but this is the one thing I find really annoying about the new format. that, and the slowness

Also agree - but the only answer given is that you cannot make this a default setting. You can temporarily switch it to this format via the option at the bottom of the screen, but as soon as you close & open another board, it is back to this format. I am sure there must be a way to have this as part of your settings, but apparently not. I do agree that when you ask for advice on something that doesn't have the most interesting title (like my trailer insurance!), it is awful watching it slipping down the page & onto page 2 within minutes! Very frustrating! I was lucky that 2 people replied before it disappeared!

I also agree, I keep reading the same posts and if no-one replies to a post it drops of the first page quite quickly, especially when the forum's busy.

Its such a shame as this forum was the one place you could come for decent advice - so it will end up being like quite a few of the others - and all us oldies with loads of knowledge will give up and log off

Yes I agree too, it was one of the things I really liked about the old forum, posts stayed around long enough to get a good viewing. Now its going to be dominated by the 'popular' posts. It would be great if they could change that one thing back.

Personally I prefer the old style much more. I found it really easy to be a regular viewer on it. I hate how the threads keep moving even though the search system is better, i'd rather find it on the old style even if its dropped to page 4 for example. Much easier than it moving around so much it could be anywhere. And the slowness is sooo annoying!

I agree with all the above! It is confusing and silly only seeing some posts for 10 minutes before they slide away to the next page.

To keep everyone happy would it be an idea to have an extra room with something like the "The 10 most popular threads on HHO at the moment" to ensure we can keep an eye on the "popular" posts whilst the others get a chance to be read by more people?

Also, it is only going to encourage "bumping" of threads meaning the forum might potentially end up filled with spam?

Mine is also taking longer, and how annoying that you can only view 10 threads per page, so if you have a few popular threads the new ones are off the page before you have even seen them or maybe been able to give advice.
Cant see me wanting to use this forum much any more and have found it a very friendly informative place

I'm amazed how many people didn't have this new setting as default on the old server! To me it makes total sense, the most active topics are at the top so easy to see if there have been new replies :)

Horses for courses I guess.

I agree, it is so annoying, i had a boring question and had no replies as it had long gone in no time at all! On the old one i would have had a few replies in the end! Also i miss the little red numbers!!!!

I don't like this format either. And it's slow for me too. I was open to change, didn't want to be someone who moaned just because something different came along... but i do miss being able to view all the threads in order they have been posted. and the little red numbers (when they used to be right!) and it is pretty slow.

It's the only thing I don't like about the change but all vBulletin boards are worked this way so I can't see it being changed sadly. We must miss loads of posts because we don't even see them before they sink off the bottom of the pages.

At the bottom of the page of new lounge there is a tab thingy (sorry not very good with tach stuff but am a bit excited i worked this out) You can change how you view the posts. You can set it to show start time and i think the posts should then stay in order.
I hope this is right i'm feeling alittle pleased with myself at the mo.
Although i don't like the new forum myself in lots of ways.

This only works if you stay in one room. You have to re-do it ever time you go in NL, CR, SB, etc. Its almost as much of a pain in the ar*e as the threads shuffling around.

This forum's just too busy for this system to work well IMO.

I think flame is right, NL is such a busy board that the new format doesn't suit it. It would probably be fine if there were only ocassional posts. Never seems half as irritating when I'm on horse gossip for example. (Although not particularly keen on that forum either as they have so many sub boards there are hardly any new posts per board!

Hmmmm, I thought it was just my computer taking ages... it was never this slow before!

Cant see me sticking with this for long now... ew used to keep the posts in order but not been on there for months. I hear fthm is good too... this 'was' my fave lol!
