Carnivores don't generally eat carnivores, AFAIK, so probably not (I know dogs are technically omnivores, but they do eat a lot of meat given the choice)

If the dog has been pts rather than died of natural causes I would imagine it would be unlikely they would feed to the hounds due to the drugs used.

MM I worked for a hunt and even when hounds were put down they were never ever fed back to hounds but were sent to a rendering plant.

A question designed to cause annoyance (at best) in either the hunting forum - or here.

A dead dog MIGHT be taken by the hunt - but it will cost you - because it would either go in the offal skip (which has to be removed by a licensed contractor at upwards of £700 per skip) or incinerated at very high heat - and high cost in fuel.

It would NOT be fed to hounds under any circumstances.

Just think of the possibilities though. You could use small dogs as handy bitesize snacks for training purposes, and larger dogs as a main meal. Medium size dogs would be the lite-bite choice for the more portly hound...

FWIW I've seen em eat a terrier but in general...no I wouldnt think it would be the feed of choice! Certainly if it had been euthanised chemically it wouldnt be anywhere near the hounds. They would take it to incinerate (if its a hunt with access to the facility) but it would cost you a small fee.

It would seem that way. After 240 odd posts, it might have been an idea had you previously gauged the attitude which others have towards their cherished pets. I'm sorry to tell you this, but the responses on this, and the Hunting section, would be entirely predictable, and yes, if others considered you to be a troll, then I'd have a degree of agreement with them.

I always put my own dogs down. Would I consider allowing them to be fed to another animal? Most certainly not, and I don't know of anyone else who would, either.
