I went for an early morning ride with my friend this morning. Her horse was in front of me on the track when he stopped to do a poo and then walked on. My horse then became totally intent on examining the poo that he would not move he was going backwards . He did this for ages I have never known him to be so stubborn about anything he did it with more intent than he usually tries to snatch at grass he was relly determined and did not move untill I smacked him. MY friend and I like a clean field so we poo pick daily am i upsetting my horse by cleaning the field.

No...I think he is just being a horse!!!!
As my non-horsey boyfriend says: Horses have to re-invent the world every 10 minutes :)

I love that saying so much!!! It's my new favourite horsey quote :)

And OP i think i agree with heather_bambi, just making sure he knew who had been there i think. Who knows what goes on in those big daft heads sometimes.

Mine quite often inspects his if there's some in his stable when he gets put in it ... obviously checking there were no intruders while he was being ridden lol. He likes to inspect the poo in the paddock as welll.

They're strange beasts :p

Yes, my girls all do it - in the field, in the barrow, in the stables - even though there's only ever the three of them there. Maybe they're just checking there have been no secret interlopers. I can never use the barrow without its contents being thoroughly sniffed over by my Highland. Often wonder what she's thinking.....

haha this is so funny! My old horse used to LOVE the smell of his own fresh poo and loved sniffing it - who knows what goes through their heads.............
