I cant beleive the difference in my horse since he has moved in to individual turnout

not even ridable at the moment. Hes has turned from a confident, brave, polite, sweet (could go on) horse to a scardy jumpy skittish bolshy bag of nerves.

Poor boy . i feel like i betrayed him by moving him there bless him. moving him back to old yard next week where he can be back with his mates. Can not wait to get my horse back to his old self.

I am kicking my self for moving him there against my better judgement, he has always enjoyed playing and socialising in the field but i had no idea that it would effect his character that much at all.

Well trying to make it up to him anyway by moving him back to his mates! cant moan myself anyway, it has amazing hacking, lovely stables, a nice school and the most helpful (but not interferring) yard owners around. plus they dont take liveries on so just me and an old friend there and then all the YO's horses.

Things are really looking up!!!

(BTW the post is not to slate people that keep their horses on individual turnout, it just doesnt suit my boy thats all.)

My mare was the same, has always been very laid back. Moved her yards and she changed when they out her on idividual turnout, she became a handful to bring in, couldn't tie up on yard as she would keep spooking and getting loose, kept trying to barge out the stable, became hard to ride. She was just a bag of nerves. We moved back to my old place and within a week she was so much more chilled. Loves her stable, very well mannered, i've started riding again too. We still have some minor issues bringing in, but its only been 3 weeks since we have moved. So in time she will settle down again.

It's amazing the difference it can make. My horse has never been one with 'field mates', he was always hanging about on his own, never had any friends, and was never bothered by standing in on his own not able to see others, bless him. So when I moved him I didn't think there would be any difference, although he isn't on his own in the field, if I bring him in on his own he freaks right out.

I'm sure a lot of it is to do with the fact he has moved house, but I was amazed at how he went from not seeming to be bothered by being on his own to hating it!

So glad to hear that she has settled down quickly i hope mine does as well :) x

Iv made the same mistake as you im lucky iv got two who really dont like each other much but they have each other like it or not. But they have become clingy stress head and seem not to be happy. My yard is lovely and people really nice just the turnout is not suiting them they came from a herd and are missing the social aspect of it. So sadley will be moving them again.

My girl became very withdrawn on individual turnout, she just wasn't herself at all. Was such a shame as I loved the yard and it had great facilities but her being happy is most important, so we went back to our old yard. I would like to move her to somewhere with better facilities, but unfortunately those are the yards that seem to do individual turnout only.
