Long time, no post!
Thought I'd post a little catch up of the bonkers cart horses antics!
So from my last post on one of the weekend threads where we'd won our AF as we were the only one in it
, it has been very hot, like Topaz-meltingly hot! We have stepped off the gas a bit as Topaz does struggle in the heat and I'm going through a busy time (moving house + work + 3 horses is a lot lol).
We've been for more Di Breeze clinics, Di reminded me I need to use my legs and stop using the whip for the engagement
. We're at that annoying stage where it all feels epic, but I just need the whip to tap tap behind, ok so I don't 'need' the whip but it's easier
. Once I'd had the whip removed and told to use my legs, Di proved I can do it
, but it is hard work lol...
We then headed over to Somerford Regionals, Topaz acted like a bonkers drama llama in front of CDJ

... Lot's of bouncing happened! I managed to calm her down, for her to try and spin and dump me on the outside of the arena
, so all in all, I was actually quite proud of our clear (but a bit boring) round for 64% and 15th place. Frustrating as I know the potential is there :rolleyes3:.
Little Skylla has had her 6th birthday, so all grown up now!
She finally seems to be getting over the horrible youngster phase where they make you question your sanity, dignity and life decisions
.
Went for a little play over the XC schooling field at Somerford over the weekend, she's really starting to get the hang of jumping, though still a little wimpy when the fences get a little bigger and still bloody clumsy
, honestly I cannot wait for when her legs catch up with her brain
. Though she loved the water, and was happy to jump the steps down into it and jump the little roll top out, so maybe still some potential lol
.
Oops moment!

Showing she can safely navigate obstacles

Topaz still has it

Next on the agenda, Topaz has the Area Festivals second rounds and fingers crossed for Home International selection!!! Skylla I might plan a couple of outings, but it's nice just playing and training at home to be honest
