Has anyone got any good ideas on how to catch a thief or thieves. It isn't large items that go missing just small items but it does get infuriating! You only have to put something down for 2 minutes and it's walked. Fly sprays, hoof oil, halters with ropes.

Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated!

You can get some sort of liquid/gel that, when it's painted on objects, can't be seen but leaves fingers bright purple if touched. Sorry, dunno the name.

When I was on a livery yard someone kept borrowing my saddle! So rude!
Someone suggested covering it in stockholm tar and then seeing who had the black bottom... but I didn't think it was worth ruining the saddle over so I just took it home instead.

Sorry that's not helpful at all is it!

if it was me - a 12bore.

otherwise I would be livid - A headcollar!!!

Try combos of electrical tape, a stripe of yellow and green is are my colours. (though they might peel that off)
Could you use a black marker pen?

Definitley would fill empty bottles with food colouring and water, mine go missing but allways come back minus half the bottle! Its annoying considering how much these things cost now.

Tack box and padlock...awful when you get rude people and have to resort to such things!

To catch them you could spy on a honey trap of lovely stuff and catch them red handed...

Someone on my yard is stealing my horse feed

Over this last week I've only a quarter of a bag left.

Spray your tack(not bridle or saddle) with bright blue or pink paint or any other paint you like just make sure it stands out.
As for the feed disappearing just say to someone that your horse is on drug regime for a reason or that you think rats or mice have started taking your feed and you have put rat poison in the feed bag as you are using feed that you are keeping at home;);););)

i tip-ex'd my rugs on the inside (with my name..)

i dont ever leave anything lyin gbaout except an old hoofpick, but i will tipex that to soon i think!! :D

I wouldn't like to upset some of you! Changing pony nuts to racing nuts, it could backfire but what a great idea. Makes me laugh just thinking about it!!!!

Thanks for all the ideas!

empty your bag of feed and replace the nuts with racehorse nuts in the old bag - you'll soon find out which horses have been fed with it!!!!

Loving this I have a problem with my nuts going missing and will try this lol.
I am someone that tends to put my stuff down and forget it so once a week go around collecting my stuff back up :p My yard is great on stuff not going missing apart from nuts  racehorse nuts here we come but must remember not to give them to my lot :p (I am a natural blonde)
