Mrs J., I will be coming over to Southern Ireland in just over 3 weeks time from UK, if you still need one get it sent it to my address me and i can bring it over. Brilliant idea, never heard of them.
Just let me know.

Thanks so much for the offer nagblagger, if I can't sort something here I may well take you up on that very kind offer.
Mrs J I am so very sorry for the loss of your son and the continuation of this stress. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but would you be considered a vulnerable older adult ie are you an OAP? Is there a social services you could alert and play up the mental health issues he is causing you?

I am 73 and Mr. J is 81 so I guess we could be classed as vulnerable but I would not want to involve social services as my son has now moved in for the foreseeable future and we both feel very safe in our home with him here, while we all decide our futures without our younger son. He can appear quite intimidating himself if you don't know him and our neighbour is a total coward when confronted by someone who actually stands up to him.

That surely needs reporting to the police.

Oh we did, they went to have a word with him and he just denied it completely and we were told,(as usual) without proof or an independent witness nothing they could do.? He did have his gun license and guns taken off him due to an incident with someone else a couple of years back but we know he still has one, occasionally we hear him using it over the valley.?

Ooh nagblagger, now THAT sounds like it might work, off to google bird scarers and trip wires. They used to frighten the bejaysus out of me when I lived in Norfolk, I never did get used to riding past them, although my horse wasn't bothered lol!
A beam that triggers the sound of a growling dog would work, or maybe the sound of a banshee would be better!

Do you know which one he got Abacus?

That is more or less what happened with my late son, he had enough of him and just lot the plot, we had to drag him off the creep but he never bothered us again until now. That was nearly 3 years ago. The gardaí are as good as useless, they have 3 foolscap pages of complaints against him from other neighbours in the townland! They did act a few years back though when he put his cattle on our land and I told them if they didn't get him to move them within the hour they would be out on the lane and be their problem.

My other son is champing at the bit he is so angry, but I have to try and sort this legal route. I can't risk it escalating and my son getting into trouble if it goes too far, which it well could as he is very raw having recently lost his brother too.

Defo get a camera going and catch his cowardly ass in the act. If the Garda do nowt then I’d say protecting your home comes into play ? disgusting situation for you guys ❤️

@ Esmae - perfect, why didnt we think of that!. It doesn't look like any of those would post to Ireland but I am sure I could source some here. We have 3 points into the yard where these would work perfectly with a trip wire. Well now, I am thinking camera into yard area where he seems to enjoy playing his games, all 3 gates with trip wire and sit back and watch the action. Brilliant:eek: ?

I love it when a plan comes together. If you have a gunsmith near to you they might be able to cobble you something up. A friend did that and it scared the living bejesus out of a prowler on her place. That was a cobbled together job.

I'm really sorry to hear you are having such problems. We keep finding cigarette ends in one spot in the farmyard - left overnight, as if someone is watching. We have cameras but are struggling to get them working at the moment. Luckily there hasn't actually been any damage and even though not at all comparable, it really does make me appreciate what you are going through.

[QUOTE="Quigleyandme, post:]I’m so sorry, actually I’m furious, you have this gobshite to deal with. It is so bloody unfair. I think the guards should be doing something more robust than a few “words of advice”. Pathetic.

But he doesn't know how the HHo family stick together and support each other!!
He better watch out....

If I wasn’t on crutches with a spinal injury I’d be having a wee camping trip with my 6ft4 partner. He’s very good at ‘encouraging’ cowardly asswipes like this one to rethink their ways due to his job (and the fact he’s a big well built chap ?) would have been nice to see a wee bit of Ireland ?

Do you know anyone who would like to camp down at your yard with their big aggressive dog? Think our YO would be sat up all night with the twelve bore... Are you near the yard or some distance away? Just thinking PIR floodlights wired to a car battery might give you a chance of being alerted to a visitor. Fix the PIR range three feet above ground level to miss out visiting wildlife.

Just a thought but would the police help out with equipment?

Not a chance Winters100, they really don't seem capable of even appreciating just how stressful this sort of niggling harassment can be. But after over 15 years of it we are pretty immune usually but just starting it up again now, when to be honest, we are not feeling very robust and especially as we truly believe he has deliberately laid low until he knew my son had died. F***in little coward he is. He hasn't bargained for my other son moving back in with us, lets see how that works out for him.

Or a security firm?

We did look into that a few years back and unfortunately the quotes were eye watering and our funds are rather depleted right now what with unexpected funeral expenses etc. so that is a no go until the savings pot has built up again.

Mrs Jingle, how old is this apology for a human? Any chance for him to be in the early stages of dementia? Refer to Services for Elders at your Local Authority?
Even if he isn't, it will get him on their records.

He is in his late 60's but I have to admit a very youthful and tough man and certainly not dementia related, we have known him for over 20 years and he has always ben the same, even some of his own family members are plagued by him and say he has been a bully since childhood. He has even managed to find himself a girlfriend 30 years his junior, she is from eastern Europe and we dont know if he 'sent' for her or how she ever arrived with him a couple of years back, but they both drink each other under the table at regular intervals and apparently the fights they have can be heard late into the night. We are all hoping they might just end up killing each other. What a blessed relief that would be! ?

I think the guards should be doing something more robust than a few “words of advice”. Pathetic.

Totally agree, we are pretty convinced they may be a tad wary of him themselves, although they did remove his guns and his license a few years back. But we know he still has a gun as we have heard him use it a few times over at his farm. He is strongly suspected of luring another neighbour's collie away and shooting it and throwing the body back out on the road - the poor old collie never left the lane outside it's house and was only a companion dog to an old man. The tales I could tell would make your hair stand on end. He really is a complete oxygen thief.?

Mrs Jingle, I feel your pain, we have one that calls every possible authority out, as a form of harassment, this week has seen animal health and DEFRA getting in touch, all with the outcome that there is no problem. It gets wearing when you have difficult neighbours, ours is also over not selling(giving away) land to them.
