hello! complete newbie to posting on here, though i have read through it lots of times! have a slight tendancy to ramble...apologies in advance..! soo,..my horse is a 15.3 ex racer, very handsome, obviously :D we used to event, real low key stuff, 1 nasty fall and i turned into a wimp...now dressageing! basically, he is working at novice, trying to get up to ele so we an go out in the double, (he is like a different horse when we do) but yeah here is (hopefully...) a pic from this weekend, scholng at home, any thoughts? i know hes overbending, and its hard to tell much in a pic, but any thoughts very welcome! about to start having lessons with a pro dr rider, would quite like someone to tell me im not going to be wasting my time though....? thanks :)

if you right click on a fb photo and select "copy image location" then paste that into your reply. Then use in front of the link and at the end of it (removing the spaces between the "g" and "]") and it should show up ok :)

ah thanks :D yeah i admit it, i drive ginormous tractors all day for a living but posting pictures.....*brain implodes....*

Lovely boy, nice compact body which I really like, and the two of you look very well matched! Good on you for riding without stirrups as well!!!!!!!!!!

It's really tough to tell from a photo as it could be competely misleading, but just going by that I would question whether he is in front of your leg. He doesn't look like he is tracking up, looks on the forehand and overbent. If he is not really in front of the leg the double can cause quite a lot of problems by encouraging you to overuse your hands. I would be tempted to revert back to the snaffle, at least until you start the lessons you are planning and you can discuss the question with your instructor.

yeah im not convinced he does really track up properly, a lot of the pics he looks a bit short behind. maybe i will go back to the snaffle and see what happens, he can be a bit of a sod (!!!) and i have a bit more say in the matter in the double, (i know it shouldnt be a short cut, justsomething ive played around with) but il see what happens! he was probs leaning on me there a bit, will try snaffle, more leg, sit up and see what happens! thanks :D

He looks like the exact double of a horse I ride...wish I had some pictures! Funnily enough the horse I ride can get quite overbent too, guess they must be twins!

He looks lovely and well done on your success so far.

My only suggestion would be to maybe come off his back a bit so he can use his bottom a bit more and hopefully in turn he'll stretch along his top line which all being well will help with the overbending (i.e. stop it!)

Once he's using his bottom and tracking up you can collect him back up again.

Good look and good on ya for getting some guidance
