I am usually a lurker rather than poster, but thought it would be nice to have a thread about our horses that are sound and well behaved . There's always lots of posts about broken and naughty neddies, and I was just thinking about how much I appreciate having my horses in my life

I am home alone this weekend, and normally wouldn't ride out if there's no one here, just in case something should go wrong. But I got brave this morning and rode my girly out in ferocious winds. And she was such a big star! Didn't put a foot out of place even in this wind . I was so pleased I was brave and rode out - it was a real sense of achievement for me, even though it was nothing special really

Then my baby arab has been giving me big cuddles tonight - I've had her just over 6 months and I cannot imagine my stables being with out her.

So what have your horses done recently to make you realise how much you love them?

Littlun went for a walk with me today. Not a ball of energy, very relaxed and lovely and cuddly after. Full groom and still wanting cuddles an hour in.
In spite of her sister screaming bloody murder as she left field and grumping when back! Couldn't have had a nicer visit today

My sister's baby (well, 5yo!) ex-racer mare had a clean tendon scan following 2 months of hell with pressure ulcers, knee wounds and overtight bandages. I am so grateful that she's ok. She may be an opinionated madam, but Al loves her so we'll put up with her naughtiness!

Both the boys I ride were lovely today. Bailey was a really good boy out hacking today and Larry didn't have a fit that he was left on his own for a while! And then I lunged Larry and he was so sweet and well behaved, he did little bunny hops, it was so cute.

They were both so cuddly and adorable today, even Bailey who is usually a grumpy moo! I was so glad I managed to work them both today too, given that I now no longer have a job!

I was really proud of my boy last weekend when my friend rode him for the first time.

She hasn't ridden much for 2 years as her horse has leg problems and was sadly PTS today. My friend knew it was coming and she said riding Izzy really gave her a lift and made her smile at an awful time. He didn't bat an eye when the horses in the field next to the school galloped around and was cheeky enough to be entertaining without worrying my friend.

He has come so far and I really like that I can let almost anyone on him and know that he will give them a fun, safe ride.

My big boy travelling in the lorry to a lesson without banging like mad...getting therd as calm as a cucumber, even when a smaller horse was being naughty, having a super lesson then travelling back calmly. All quiet and easy...waited 2 years for that, hopefully he is now starting to grow up!

My baby arab is just 2 - and is quite sure about just how beautiful she is. And she lets everyone know about it. Including grabbing the others rugs as they walk past to get their attention . Unfortunately for her, it generally gets her attention in the form of ears back or swinging hind legs in her direction lol

Apologies indeed Auslander . Broken horses are indeed lovely - but it is also very lovely to have a few reminders that they aren't broken ALL of the time . I hope your broken one gets fixed soon

Awww that's so sweet! I had to had my 5yo arab PTS last year, as he got kicked and broke his leg in the field . Although for the few days just after it was so difficult to walk past the spot where it had happened, I was so glad that I had the other horses there to keep me *having* to go round to the stables. I think if I hadn't had them there to MAKE me do it, I would just have given up there and then TBH. Glad to hear he was such a good boy

Oh it is fabulous when you have moments like that isn't it! A couple of years ago, when my arab that I had to have PTS last year was not long broken, and I had taken him a couple of times out for lessons. He was being very well behaved at the lessons - definitely no complaints from me! But at this one lesson, my lorry battery died while I was in my lesson, so when I had got him all loaded up I couldn't start.

He then had to stand up in the lorry for quite some time, while my RI husband got their lorry up by mine so that we could jump it! He was such a star, and just stood on the lorry like a pro while we sorted my lorry out! And for such a wriggle-puss that he was, it made me super happy

My girl is coming back after brokenness, and she is a super star, she coped well with box rest and even when really fed up remained well behaved. She is good as gold to walk in hand, and when it came to first ride after 13 weeks I was able to hop on and go for a hack alone on the road as if I last rode her the day before. The second day was blowing a gale and we were the only people on the yard who ventured out!

She is keeping up the saintly behaviour, she is such a star and she's only a baby.

My boy was such a good boy for the dentist today. Its the first time ive had him done since I got him, as he was dne just before i bought him. Dentist said his teeth were very sharp and overgrown and he has a couple of sores where they have been rubbing the side of his mouth He was very brave and should feel a lot more comfortable now! But the dentist said he'll need sedated so he can get to the ones right at the back and give them a really good grind down.

Here's my boy that I had to have PTS last year. He was the first purebred arab I had owned, and he absolutely was my soulmate. He had the biggest heart in the world

This here is my 2yo arab that I have had for about 6 months. She is incredibly laid back and easy going sort. But far to clever for her own good

And my mare that I posted a picture of above - well a lot of people may well go, ah she's not that special looking. But the main reason that I love that picture soooo much, is that she used to look like this:

Baby coblet...well, because he's my baby coblet! He is the most genuine, bold, trusting baby I've ever met. And he's mine, all mine and I'm so excited to see him shaping up for the future each day!

And the Welsh mare...as she is just the official welsh bimbo schoolmistress pony, with balls of steel. There is nothing she wouldn't do I don't think.

And CharmyDoofus. Still very new to me and won't be doing much work with him till Spring other than light quiet hacking till then, but, he is such a dead ringer for a previous other dark bay ISH horse I had with work I doted on, Splodgey, who was my one in a million. I know Charmy's not him....but, he is so alike him in so many ways, it's kind of like he's the best replacement to fill his memories for me.

Awwww bless her! My girl has done similar, when I couldn't ride for about 10 weeks as I was super poorly sick. But when I eventually felt strong enough to get back on, she really looked after me

My 23yr old was showing the first signs of stiffness when she'd been in for a few hours in autumn. So I was expecting initial stiffness & filled legs when she came in at night. However she's marching out of her box like a youngster again, & legs not filling at all. And, she rolled over on a slight uphill the other day. I'm mega happy she's not showing signs of age yet. And tbh, everything she does makes me happy, she's so good & perfect.
Daughters pony made me happy when she got mauled by a load of kids with balloons when we'd been through McDonald's drive-thru at wkend. Never batted an eyelid despite having balloons right in her face, & usual car park noise. Which is why she's perfect despite being very lively & super opinionated.

My darling Pie... He's just such a pleasure to handle on the ground. Bringing him in through 3 gates, he waits politely, walks through when I open it then waits politely without being held while I refasten (doesn't take himself off to the nearest patch of grass or make a nuisance of himself). Particularly appreciated last night in the pitch dark, pouring rain and gales!
Oh and he's getting braver in the indoor too!

I am a strong believer in fate and I can't help but feel like my new boy and I were just meant to be. We've been thinking about getting another so we can hack out together instead of sharing but we said we wouldn't go looking, we'd just wait for the right horse to drop into our laps.

Then, a few months later whilst looking for an electric fencing unit on Preloved I spotted a horse amongst the search listings. Weird. He was basically less than a mile from where I work and that raised a few eyebrows in my household especially because I hadn't even logged in to search locally!

So... I went to see him. And it was love at first sight. He's actually the perfect horse for me, and exactly what I was(n't) looking for. Turns out his owner just had a double lung transplant and can't risk her health by being outdoors any more. She was so upset but at the same time, she wanted what was best for him. Turns out she and I have a LOT in common and after many cups of tea and lots of laughs we've become friends. And both she and Ollie are happy I found them.
