Champion riding hats - fitting differently?

I have an old, cheap Champion skull (the kind with no vents). Replaced it (as no fitting services currently available) with a newer one with vents as my current model is hot in the summer. It does not fit the same ?. I have been the same size in those hats since I was about 18... why does this not fit? I can get it on, but it is more of a round fit and is uncomfortable on my forehead.

it used to be that Champion were oval and CO were round but I don't think it's quite that simple these days.
I used to only wear champions but both my current hats are CO, when I went to be fitted the fitter explained which models were more for oval heads and would therefore fit me well. Maybe Champion have done similar and have some rounder ones now?

my local tack shop are still doing hat fitting by appointment, maybe you can shop around?
