Cheap places to buy horse feed online

As per title really, our local feed shops don't stock the feeds I want to use for winter and ordering in has quite a significant mark up on the online prices I've seen. But it's still quite expensive so can anyone recommend the cheapest places online to order feed from? Thank you 🙂

I can get Alfa a oil and micronised linseed from the feed store, but need grass pellets, key flow key plus, Pura beet and honey chop chopped oat straw from online as it's exorbitant to order in. It would be most convenient for me to be able to order from one place rather than go to all different manufacturers websites though. But I'm absolutely broke right now lol and still need to buy straw so will prioritise cost saving over convenience.

I would imagine there may be a reasonable delivery charge attached to having feed sent out, so it would be worth checking the total cost inc. P&p vs the price of your local shop ordering in before you actually buy.
Also, have you checked the manufacturers websites for local stockists incase there is any other shops in the area that stock their feeds, that you could try (presuming you're not in the outer Hebrides or somewhere equally remote!)
(Sorry if that's a bit obvious!)

Are you really sure that your feed store does not have an equivalent to these feeds already in stock? Also, and please forgive me for asking this, but are you really sure that your horse needs these feeds? can the horse get by on forage and possibly a balancer? Have you tried it?

Can they get you alternatives? For example I work at a feed stockist and can get at least three different types of grass nuts, two oat chaffs, four sugar beets plus other beet based feeds and various high fat supplements.
I quite often get enquiries from people who want to source a feed or an alternative with the same ingredients sugar/starch etc

If you have the storage the more you order the less delivery is in terms of percentage. Or possibly hire a van, drive to the nearest larger stockist and buy sufficient yourself avoiding delivery charges all together? Or Welsh's suggestion of talking to your local stockist?

*giggles* It's for four different horses .... if anyone, by the way, knows one single feed that will serve the needs of a toothless geriatric cushings shetland, poor doer but fizzy tb, very fussy former laminitic new forest and plain and simple fatty appaloosa, I am all ears. 🙄😤

I’ve given up putting ‘special’ orders in at my local feed merchants’. Half the time the order doesn’t arrive when promised, and when it does arrive, they won’t/don’t put it back for me, they put it out on general sale and someone else buys it before me. I’ve had many a wasted trip, so while I prefer to support my local store, it became too much of a PITA.

pink mash( or grass nuts + linseed but that would need 2 suppliers), and rice bran pellets for the TB. Keyflow deliver direct. so 2 feeds, 1 supplier and 1 delivery. Done.

Wasn't asking for critique on what I'm feeding......when I want feed advice I will ask for it. But what they're on at the moment is working fine. I tried pink mash last Jan and no one would eat it except the spotty, who got fat(ter). 😂

When I wanted something specific from our local shop I paid for it up front, they rang me when it arrived I picked it all up (lots)

I imagine you could approach the manufacturers when they would possibly sell you a full pallet? I don't think there is anything cheap on line sadly, as others have said delivery costs kill it.

You could always hunt around locally, near us there is a small mill that makes mixes, and chop, they *might* do a deal

I was really interested in this but I've just checked and their price for Spillers Speedy Mash is three pounds a bag more than my local feed merchant!

.

Yes they offer free delivery now by building it into the price.

When it all came under the JW Titmuss name, what you saw online was the in store price, they are very cheap. Delivery was £6.95 per item for large things like feed.

Now they've separated online onto equisupermarket and raised these prices. To take an example, charnwood linseed is just over £18 in store, online is about £24 but Hertfordshire is a bit of a hike

You'll probably find your Speedy mash really cheap in store.

Umm, yes you did, so not sure theres any need for the rudeness.

Just checked out Equibox with buying 2 bags of Baileys No 19. It's marginally cheaper than my local feed store but delivery is £13.92p which makes it ridiculously expensive. At the end of the day unless you are buying a van load of feed don't bother because it's heavy & incurs high postal/courier bills.

Farm and pet Place used to be good as the postage was per 30kg so if your feed came in 20kg bags you ordered 3, 15 you could order 2 or 4. I notice it's now 28kg which only works if you are buying 2 x 20kg and 1 x 15kg. It's £3.99 per 28kg.

efeed? not sure if they stock your feeds, but I used them regularly as cannot get agrobs locally. The delivery goes down the more you order (or at least it does for my postcode!)

Think you did ask for feeding advice.

No, see response above; that really was sarcasm and I really am not seeking feed advice, I much prefer qualified nutritionists (provided you take their advice with a pinch of salt as they tend to promote their own products) over those of people on the internet who do not know my horses or how I keep them. Thanks.

it maybe is sarcasm but it didn't come across as such initially and your answers seem rude to people who've taken the time to try and help you.

I am being rude, I'm a rude, very nasty person so it's what I do. 😆🙂 And should be expected.

But equally feeding regime critique wasn't the question. 🙃
Incidentally the equi-box site works out by far the cheapest so will order from there in future.
