Anyone with any experience?

My mare is having scan wed/Thurs to find out what damage she has done.

Seemingly done it careering around the field!

Looking for advice as to if your horses have come sound or never been quite right again

Thanks

Friends horse did this, after a scan was shown to be inflamed but no tears. bandaged at night, out in small paddock during the day, front leg is still very thick, no obvious lameness, does still come in with a hot leg on some days. been about 4 weeks so far and think he will be scanned again in a month or so.

I have an Arab Mare that has done both check ligaments.

The first one she did out on exercise and was a small lump on the inside of her near fore (Left) she was never lame. Rest in a small tapped of area and six weeks later she was fine.

The second she did in the field again after a short time of restricted movement she was fine. She went on to compete for the England Team at an Endurance event.

Looked after a few through this and they all returned to full work .
One went on to breakdown five years or so later it when the DFT was badly damaged that was probably linked to the previous injury .

Fronts are much better news in terms of rehab. The scan will tell you the extend of the damage and then the vets will decide how to tackle it.

My lad did a hind and it was as bad as the hospital had ever seen. It finished him but 3 years on he is field sound.

Mine did a front CL 8 weeks ago and had PRP treatment 4 weeks ago on vet suggestion as she's insured. I was told it was a 3 or 3.5 out of 10 injury so bad enough but not catastrophic. Vets are very optimistic :)

She's still in her box as not a sensible patient in the field but is sound on her in hand walks and she has no idea there's anything wrong with her. I've got another 4 weeks of walk in hand before we will look at starting turnout again, and I can probably get back on board then to do some walking under saddle. Must be patient!

I have also been using an ArcEquine unit which I think has helped with the inflammation (no idea whether it's helping with healing, will have to wait until the next scan to see) She's my horse of a lifetime so I was happy to throw everything at it!
