Depends on the horse, how bad the injury was, what it was intended for and the price. It's not ideal but I wouldn't write it off on principle, I've got a horse that has done 2 and after careful rehab they haven't given any more bother.
I would at the right price IF they allowed my vet full disclosure to their vet and a fresh set of scans but I wouldn’t be looking to do really hard work like hunting, SJ or eventing over bigger tracks
I’ve had horses do it before and both came back to full work and never had another problem - my vet said 24/7turnout except in worst weather was the secret as there was never a chance for fluid to start to build up in the area
Yes, I've had one of my own, and seen many recover to full hard work including one which was very bad but the horse later evented and is still sound retired at 28. I would probably have it scanned if the horse isn't cheap.
