Looking to Swap My Gorgeous 2-Year-Old Filly 🌟
Equally I’d love to keep her and would consider a full loan as I can turn her out

This is a difficult post to write, but here goes…
I have a beautiful 2-year-old blingy Warmblood filly, British bred for dressage but full of eventing potential. She’s elegant, well put together, moves beautifully, and has a kind, trainable temperament. She will be graded next year and I know she will do beautifully She’s currently unbacked due to her age, but showing all the promise of becoming a top-class competition horse.

💔 Why am I looking to swap?
Simply put — I need something I can RIDE. And get back into the game As much as I adore this filly, I’m looking for a horse I can actively work with now. It’s a genuine, reluctant swap — not a sale — and I want her to go to someone who will appreciate her future as much as I do.

🔁 What I’m looking for:
A straight swap for a quality eventing prospect, ideally already backed or lightly riding away. Must be sane, sound, and under 8 years old. I’m aiming for something with good basics already in place.

💷 Value: 8.5 ( as she stands as a 2 year old ) so I’m looking for a straight swap of equal value.

📍 Based in the UK, happy to discuss more or share videos/photos via message.

Please no timewasters — this is a much-loved filly and I’m only looking to do what’s best for both of us 💕

Youngster from a new stud, first crop of foals from stallion. Friend asks for a price and some video. Gets a very polite reply asking what her budget is… err yes that’s not how it works 🤣

No doubt breeder above thinks she was a time waster with an unrealistic budget but the reality is she was a quick no hassle buyer of a horse with a price tag the same week (and she’d of been a brilliant promoter of the stud if the horse had turned out useful!)

She looks very uncomfortable 😢. The advert is very like the original one with the picture of the large person riding her and the text about the 6yo lost interest.

This just makes me sad. She’s owned her pretty much her whole ridden life and now selling her when she gets to 19

15.2hh , 2006 mare.

She is as kind as she is beautiful. I have had the pleasure of owning her for 15yrs. She is an amazing horse that gives her everything. She has evented to BE90 , sj to 90cm and 1m at home. She is always in the ribbons at dressage.

She is currently happy doing a round of 70/80 .

Most suited as a school mistress for a young rider or happy hacking / riding school horse. Open to any kind of vetting.

Unfortunately due to other commitments I do not have enough time for her.

Paraphrasing and translating from French, seen on FB this morning:

"Hi, I'm 15 and love horses. I have a foal at the moment and own 9 hectares of land. I want to set up a yard of about 10 horses for passionate riders to come to.

I already have lots of stuff but would need some more: buckets, haynets, rugs...

I'm looking for horses to be gifted to me: any age, any sex except stallion, any colour

I will reserve them now and pick them up by September at the latest

PS I won't accept any criticism of the state of my foal, she's recovering from an illness (there are multiple pictures of her foal)"

Yep, let's all queue up to gift horses to a 15yo who sounds like she's daydreaming, slightly flaky and doesn't mention any parental involvement. What could possibly go wrong?!
Also, if you don't want any criticism of your horse, don't put pictures of it you think are dodgy on the internet. Either put none up or some of before the horse was ill.

Another one today:

A business is advertising a "discover ponies" session for under 3s, with, as a bonus, "a meet the foals" part at the end. There is a picture of two very young children sat in the grass next to a foal lied flat out on its side and various other mares and foals in the background.

Am I the only one thinking that an under 3yo should not be anywhere near any foals unless they have close one on one supervision by a competent adult? (Ideally actually in the adult's arms) Also letting random kids sit on the floor in a field with a herd of mares and foals gives me the shudders. There is no way a 3yo will have the speed, reflexes and coordination to get up rapidly and make it to a safe place if one or more of the ponies happens to take exception to them, a field mate or fright at something exterior.

I'm not what you normally would call a health and safety nut (I'll happily cycle along while leading a horse on each side), but the potential for disaster to some very vulnerable children seems obvious to me, though not to the business owners it would seem.

I'm surprised they can get insurance but I have a few different horse--business related insurance policies and it's bizarre how they classify activities. Pony Patting Parties was listed so I guess they used that?

I have no idea. I don't know this business, it just popped-up in one of the local horsey groups on facebook. If they're letting the kids ride in anyway, they'll need to have a qualified riding teacher around (over here, you're not allowed to teach riding unless you're qualified, so can't be insured if you're not). I don't know if they're like a petting farm or something. I don't have any kids, so not an issue for me and my nephew and niece will be getting their introduction to horses through me. There is no way I would let them unsupervised into the field with my mares and foal at the moment. My foal is playful and getting a little coltish at the moment, not an appropriate companion for an under 3 yo human. I've been kicked by my mare before when she was aiming for a fieldmate, painful but I'm an adult, my horse, my choice, my risk. Such a kick could have killed a small child.

Assuming they have insurance or indeed the ‘pony petting’ licence if it’s in England 😏

Less cheeky/ridiculous, more of an observation - local riding school is closing and are advertising their horses for sale. Good to see a few comments on the post calling them out on selling the 25 year old who is described as 'one of our golden oldies'

To be fair, our RDA would possibly be interested. We have just PTS a horse we bought aged 18 from a riding school that was closing. They had 8 years with us of mostly light walk/trot work and lived out. Could you send me the link please?
