Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

On behalf of a very good friend. Extremely difficult and sad decision forces sale of there 16’3 TB mare x racer. This is a very honest post! This mare can bite and can be a huge handful under saddle. She’s currently ridden by a very knowledgeable and experienced. 14 year old. They have owned her for approximately 3 years. Unfortunately she has had kissing spine surgery, which was a huge success. Please don’t let this put you off. She needs a very experienced home I can not stress this mare is not a first horse. I have photos and ridden videos.
Please private message me if interested.

Why can’t people be responsible with their animals. Probably still in pain somewhere and vulnerable to be picked up by a bin end dealer and passed about.
Just PTS

A huge handful under saddle and doesn't sound easy on the ground either
I wonder what her good points are

An extremely difficult sale as in why would anyone choose to spend money on her? Poor mare. ☹️

Will iterate im more than happy to contribute towards cost if anyone here buys her.

Poor little thing :( I ought to get a companion really but she's a fair way away. Does anyone else think she looks like she could have Cushing's?

An ad by a 15 year old girl looking for a part loan. The ad itself was fine, stating her experience, competence etc. that’s she’s looking for a horse to love as her own, would be well cared for etc. Then a picture for attention. It’s the girl, with no helmet on, cantering down a steep field on a pony with winter rug, head collar and lead rope…

I had a brief look on Facebook yesterday as I’d love to find a teen wanting to ride to help me with my mare. But I’ve seen a lot like this, and it’s put me off. From a liability side I just can’t see that it’s worth it, which is a shame as someone gave me this opportunity and I had the time of my life.

I'm clearly out of touch with the horse market again, but £19k for a BE90 horse seems absolutely absurd to me.
The prices have come down. Covid times and beyond they could be 25k+.

A friend was trying to sell his teenagers horse that they have lost interest in. He’s nice enough but nothing world beating and isn’t a push button ride. They stuck him on sales livery with a pro rider who piloted him around 3 100s and told them they could get 28k. Unfortunately they have spent nearly 10k on sales livery and no sale.

It depends, a horse with potential or schooling at that level would be cheaper, but one with a proven record at BE90/100 definitely still going for good money !!

But the market is definitely slow and types that were selling very quickly are hanging around much longer

More people want solid, established and easy grassroots horses than Novice+ ones. So I think they command a very high price. Not that many horses can do a good dressage test and then go reliably double clear with an average rider steering them round. Those who can are worth a lot to those riders. Ie people like me! Lottie was that horse for a while. Amber had the ability but was WAY harder to ride. I could never afford to replace Lottie for another one like her. Sadly.

I think the point is that the exemplary record they want at BE100, the age and no vet history, will definitely come with a price tag higher than £19k - that's a £25-£40k horse every day of the week
The BE90 horse- with an excellent record and ready for grassroots champs that isn't a ridiculous price. For one scraping round with an average test and SJ faults, it is hefty enough

Sorry, but OH has just spat out his tea at 'Psycho Sallys'!

Never heard of putting a height restriction on liveries - is this a thing? (I've seen a fair few Shires/Clydies that are much calmer and gentler than kids' ponies!)

Facilities sound OK but from what I know about the area it's pretty close to motorways and there isn't a huge amount of great hacking. The winter turnout thing doesn't look great either.

And how can you have 'fun' on a yard without a psycho Sally or two? 😝😝😝
