Ok the gold cups on this afternoon, who do you fancy?

I think i'll have an E/W bet on Exotic Dancer. Will be interesting to see how Denham runs, hope he gets home safe, as all of them do.

Be lucky people & don't loose your shirt

I was considering Madison du Bearlais e/w - he was still pulling Tom Scudamore's arms out when he beat Denman. Whether or not he'll stay up the hill I have no idea. If I get get 10/1 or better that might be my pick.

Not sure to win - my heart says Kauto Star but my brain is thinking Neptune Collonges might be a better pick. Probably won't put anything on a winner.

I would dearly love Kauto Star to win, but I seem to have a feeling for Exotic Dancer and neptune Collonges
As long as they all come home safe and sound I'll be happy

I have also picked Snoop Loopy at 66/1 E/W. Left Kato Star alone as i'm not betting big and there 's no point backing him at the odds 2/1 i'm only putting on a few bob. Love cheltenham Gold cup and i will be sneaking out from work to watch it in the bookies.

3.20 watch it and be Lucky

I like watching racing, dont know much about it though!

Does anyone know if all the horses and jockeys are ok?

I watched a couple of the races Tuesday and there was a couple of falls.

A nice looking grey horse fell, it didnt seem to want to get up after and I saw a horse being led away that was very lame.

If the grey was the Linamix horse then I heard it was OK thankfully.

I hope Cape Tribulation runs well in the 2.40. Local trainer, local jockey. Fingers crossed for them.

Definite Kauto Star lover here! Sadly at work, so no watching on TV but trying to think of a reason to sneak out this afternoon to catch it on the radio (if I can bear to listen).

Actually think it is a very open race this year and it seems Exotic Dancer is thought to be in very good shape.

Ruby is in cracking form but maybe AP deserves a bit of luck today?

Goodness, feel excited just sitting at my desk thinking about it!

Is Snoopy Loopy running? He didn't do well in the King George and I wondered if he had been injured in that race as I hadn't heard anything of him lately (not that I buy racing papers).

The last horse to die was at Cheltenham on the 12/03 and he had a fatal injury and was destroyed. His name was Clarified and he was a handsome 7 year old irish gelding. The going was good to soft, 23 horses ran, his posiition was midfield and he was carrying 10 stone. So far 335 horses have died in 732 days on british race tracks - one of the worse tracks alledgedly is Cheltenham because the landings are lower than the take offs. Please just take five minutes of your time today to look at the website horsedeathwatch.com which is Animal Aid's to see how many of our beautiful TB's die needless and agonising deaths today and over the next few days. I am not anti racing full stop but I think there are many things that could be done to improve our race tracks and make them safer for all horses. I am not suggesting or expecting that anyone who looks at the website will or must change their views but it is always good to look at both sides of the coin and I appreciate the forum for letting people like myself have the freedom of speech and for the readers to respect my views and that of others.

I thought that the jockeys were being more responsible about pulling up tired horses at the back that had no chance, rather than keep them going and risk a fall.

There will nearly always be more fallers at Cheltenham (although not many this year) as everyone is there to win, and some horses are slightly struggling with the pace. It is "take no prisoners" time for everyone.

It seems at Cheltenham that it is the state of the going that has a lot of influence, as they go much, much faster when the ground is harder, and then of course they are more at risk when falling.

No one wants to see a horse fall and hurt itself, but it is an accident.

I hope Cerium wins - I have £1 on him at 1000/1!!

If he doesn't win then I would love Kauto to win even though I haven't put any thing on him. I have done a few small each way bets on some others so hopefully I might get a little bit back, Not likely though with my past history!

No, having a car crash is an accident. Dropping a cup of tea is an accident. Horses breaking legs, necks and backs are man made tragedies that cannot be excused. These horses are relying on humans to speak for them as they are not able to speak for themselves. The number of animals abused by humans throught ignorance/arrogance or plain stupidity in this country is staggering. We cannot blame everything on an 'accident'. Someone or something has to be accountable.

A 4 year child's riding pony we sold a month ago was destroyed on Monday as it broke a hind leg galloping about in the field - man made or an accident?? Sorry but good racehorses love to race and are bred and trained for the job. Where would this argument end? Hunting, eventing, showjumping - or even just letting our horses have a good blast out hacking? All involve risk!

Right back to topic - fingers crossed it will be Kauto. Would love to see Denman run well but fear he may have bad memories of the place having run his heart out last year.

You are being ridiculous. I merely pointed out that racing horse is a dangerous sport for our horses. I too lost a horse with a broken leg, I lost one as a result of an accident on a pleasure ride too. I don't believe hunting, showjumping, etc is as dangerous but accidents happen there also. What I do disagree with is that people have such closed minds when it comes to improving safety within sports - they either take it as a personal criticism or use annoying simplistic arguments like if racing didn't exist the horses wouldn't be born in the first place. I'm sure if they realised that the vast majority of them would end up upside down in a ditch with a broken back and horses landing on top of them they wouldn't choose to be born in the first place anyway. Incidently someone had put a post on earlier in this thread about "what happened to?" and I thought the website would help them find out, I just merely added my comments (its called freedom of speech).

Denman has my heart, but my head is saying he has been so plagued with this and that, (and thats setting aside his quirkyness) and is probably not the best option!!

am i mad/deluded for thinking maybe Denman can do it!!!!??????
i really want him too!!! come on Denman!! PLEEEEASE!!!

I really want him to win too!!! It's very unlikely...but still!

I have Neptune Collonges to win, and Denman each way.

I would love Denman to do it, but I just don't think he will, had to bet though as we have a Presenting Horse at the yard, and he is a lovely horse

OH has Exotic Dancer to win and Madison du Bearlais each way.

It's not the race it was last year as Deman has so many question marks hanging over him, so even if Kauto wins, I think the victory will be a bit hollow.

Oh and Applecart or whatever your name is - we've heard it all before.

Kauto wins!
Denman 2nd,
Exotic Dancer 3rd.

Edited to add...hope all horses are ok, were there any bad fallers?

(I'm at work, so had to keep track via a news feed thing

Nope I don't agree.

Next year will be the real test when Denman has a proper run up and is in full health.
You can't compare a horse who's training has been spot on all year to a horse that has been off through illness.

I meant in terms of the majority of horses being up to standard - coming to the fourth from last all bar two were in with a chance - very competitive - which I appreciated
