Cheltenham Thread

I’m excited about tomorrow but slightly concerned about the lack of stars, just hope some of the young horses show how good they can be for the future. Who wins the champion hurdle ?

I see no lack of stars? It’s great to have new horses coming through.

Golden Ace… I’d so love her to do it again. It may very well be unlikely but I’ll be helping Lorcan up the hill.

I’m looking forward to it too. The first day is my favourite but I also love the Champion Chase. I won’t be watching much of it though as don’t have the heart or stomach for it now. I can’t bear to see fallers or worse. I’ll just have everything crossed that all horses and jockeys come back safely.

I only ever support British horses so am hoping for a better year than usual this time around!

I go for horse looks - hence my selection of a certain type of bay horse on most occasions. Neither of my Champion Hurdle ones fit that, but in that case am going for trainer/jockey and then grey for a change. The Cross Country race has some old favourites in it. I had picked Desertmore House but he seems to have shortened in the odds a lot recently (nothing to do with me!).

Another one rooting for Golden Ace tomorrow, although (apologies to Dan and Harry) I'd be equally happy to see Lossiemouth pull away from them all going to the final hurdle. I'll be recording it like I do at the weekends, I'm wfh tomorrow and Wednesday but I'm also too chicken to watch it live these days so may have the sound on and listen in from my office in the next room 😄

Just popped in here to say good morning to everyone who follows Cheltenham. I record it and try to watch some of it live.
I don’t contribute much but enjoy everyone’s comments, but don’t look till I have seen all the day’s racing.
Afraid I am not an Irish supporter except for JP’s runners that are trained here. He seems to have a vast list entered this year. Always interested who he chooses to train them.

That's usually me sitting on one of those! Sadly too busy with real work this year, but will be watching on tv.

Oh no naughty real work getting in the way. Was watching a Facebook real of Gordon Elliott's string prepping and going out for exercise - more horses than a lot of trainers train and know WM has a lot more. Immense organisation

ITV Opening show on the telly now, tiny bets made according to a mix of who I like and David Pipe’s tips. I need to do a few hours work this morning and will be parked in front of the TV for the afternoon.

Got a lucky 15 and a single each way bet on a Skelton horse at 66/1 😆 I probably won’t be watching live but will catch up.

I watched the opening show too. Really enjoyed seeing all the horses exercising. Think I might just stick to watching that each morning as it's far less nerve wracking than watching the racing itself. Hoping that NH has a good Cheltenham . Interesting to see GE's new approach for Brighterdaysahead. I'm not a fan of his but he has really thought through whats best for her.

Did anyone also see the FB reel of his team travelling from yard to Cheltenham on the ferry? It looks a logistical nightmare, great teamwork.

Exercising on Sunday and Monday is lovely. Laid back, easy, no pressure. Tuesday morning when you ride across to the middle of the track past hundreds of journalists, photographers and camera teams.... 😬😳. Just pray you stay on board, and that the trainer's back is turned when the horse you're sitting on takes a hold coming off the bottom bend and you get run off with upthe hill!! 🙈 There's a definite art to looking nonchalant in the face of adversity. I remember watching the itv footage back one year and being pleasantly surprised by how in control I looked when I definitely wasn't!

Was great last year as was on maternity so could properly watch, this year ill be in the office Wednesday and Thursday so no way of watching live

Hope we see plenty of the horses and less drunk punters. Also dont want to be hearing about all the obscene hundreds of thousands pounds worth of bets especially in the current financial circumstances

Being there looks my idea of hell, those crowds 😝

Only just switched on, have ITV shown them at all? ROR Instagram show Al Boum Photo and A Plus Tard on the hills by the course and both looked so chilled like they were ambling along for a nice hack

They should have others parading on the other days, love seeing the retired ones and what theyre up to

Anyone know what Tiger Roll is up to would have thought hed be invited to appear

I am also very unscientific… but I got the winner and an each way there. All British horses in the first three!! 🏆
