Cheltenham Thread

I do always wonder quite how good the pro Irish (jump!) jockeys are in bumpers. The Irish amateurs ride in them all the time, as do the English pros. But the Irish pros pretty much only ride in one a year - at Cheltenham.

Why is that?
Not bumpers but generally I think Irish jockeys have a better grasp of tactics as they are used to big fields.

In Ireland bumpers are restricted to amateurs. It's one of the reasons Patrick never turned pro. Probably Jodie too.

But i agree with you in general on the tactics.

Oh, interesting, never knew that.
I would also say, about tactics, that on most of Willie’s top horses you are going so much better than the rest you must have more time to think. 😁.
Still say generally they are better though.
 
What’s going on with this Declan Queally/Nico de Boinville spat? I haven’t seen anything other than what I’ve read. Personally I’ve always felt NdB has a personality I wouldn’t want to come up against - in every interview he seems antsy.

Agree about how his personality comes across especially if something hasn't gone his way, can remember the year NH horses weren't performing due to the virus in his yard and he gave a really snippy interview

There's alleged racism, not sure how they are going to be able to investigate, you could see NDB getting cross at the start on ITV but couldn't hear what they were saying

These false starts dont help anyone then we have the farce of all the resultant faffing, how can they sort that out?
 
I can guess what he said to be accused of racism… not acceptable nowadays.
The starts have been appalling on the whole. They need a few bans chucked out to focus their minds.
