I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. My mare had colic surgery 18 months ago and she hasn't looked back. It's just such a horrid, sickening feeling seeing them so so poorly.
Massive vibes to you both, and everything crossed for a full recovery, from me and Dina.
Incidentally, Dina's story is in this issue of Horse magazine.
One step at a time - he made it through the surgery so that's a positive. Don't usually do vibes but am sending you my most positive ones now. Remember that it's probably harder for you to deal with than for him and stay strong.
Chico had a good night and is bright and cheeky this morning. He has some gut sounds (which vets says it very good for this stage), temp and heart rate good. He has been out in hand for 10 minutes grass and apparently was a little bugger to get back in!
He still not out of the woods yet though, vets said that his gut could stop at any time so he is on full colic checks every 4 hours and the next 48 hours will be crucial.
I am going up to visit him after work tonight and will take a photo of my poor little boy to share with you all.
Well, he's still fighting and that's got to be good. Come on Chico, you can do it! You're both still in my thoughts. I lost a wonderful horse to colic so I really feel for you . Keep strong xx
