Oh dear God! I wish I'd have seen it - I could have sold her some, at a price that reflected how special and different it was!

The weight threads are amazing. "tbs can weight carry some of them will carry up to 17st in handicaps" 12st love.....

The general vet avoiding lot are scary
 
Some of the stuff posted there is horrifying! Someone asked whether they could clip their couple month old foal because it was too fluffy for her liking!! Another one was someone had started to muck out a bed and posted the picture on the group (not the girls stable) and asked what should she do as the stable had maggots in it and the original owner tried to deep litter it. The advice was horrific and someone even said that deep littered beds always have maggots in and you shouldn't do anything! :eek: another sit on your hands moment...

A woman this afternoon said that if you were too heavy for your horse it would tell you. So basically saying don't make any kind of sensible judgement before just get on and go and see if it bucks you off! I'm the one called Hedy desperately trying to argue my point then I gave up when she started ranting about stunt riders and the queens artillery horses and riding racehorses aged 2 and why wasn't all this cruel. Not relevant!

Seriously, just thinking about it makes me cross :p I'm not good at biting my tongue, had to leave before I got into an argument...
 
Some of the posts on these groups make my blood boil and I find it very hard to bit my tongue. It seems every horsey idiot is drawn to these pages. I have to sit on my hands and quickly log off before I start a rather harsh comment beginning with 'Is this a joke...'
 
Just seen one just flash up asking if a license is needed to hack out. I told my OH (as well as the ad-lib haylage 'conundrum') about this and the response I wished I could've filmed it it was that priceless. It went along the lines of:
"Right"
[Stops eating....then silence...lots of silence]
"Maybe some people do need licenses"
[Silence]

I'm on there too and find it quite interesting at times. There are 'head in hands' moments however sometimes it can be quite useful.

I honestly don't know what some people are doing asking whether to call the vet, if you think you should then you do. Easiest thing to do is phone the vet and explain the situation, they will tell you if they need to come out. Oh no...wait....ill go home and get on facebook and ask others...pffft.
 
There was one the other day where someone had taken a photo of someone's deep littered stable that she was cleaning out (without asking!) and the comments that followed were beyond a joke.. Rscpa/ horse welfare etc.

I had to comment in the end because I couldn't help myself, admin then removed it.

And your point is? Mine quite regularly takes me aside and politely suggests that I drink a bit less red wine, eat fewer pies, and take more exercise. I then thrash him with my carrot stick for daring to be so rude. Is that not normal?

Sorry my bad!! I do, however, not bother to get any saddles fitted or measure his mouth for bits because I presume he will let me know when his mouth hurts or if the saddle pinches his back. :o
 
That group is awful... all the threads yesterday about weight loss my god! "Would you put 17 stone on a tb" Jesus christ. And 'the horse will tell you' rubbish-no it wont! Banging on about if you ride light that's fine! Oh yes so being a balanced rider knocks 5 stone off ya does it?! This is why I stopped commenting, bunch of idiots.
One of the people commenting used the argument that she's 19 stone and rides a 14.2 haflinger. I had no words!

Awful isn't it. There's currently a post on where a young girl is asking whether or not she should breed her lame elderly horse. And everyone is telling her not to put it down because it will find a nice home as a field companion. Good luck!
 
I joined last night to be nosey, I left this morning when I read the one about the horse 'attacking' when being lunged-after the poor thing had had join up, lunging, liberty work by the age of 3 by a seeming numpty. everyone telling them that it was about dominance and that she needed 'seeing to'. good grief.
 
I also left earlier the ride and drive cob was the final straw, the group just encourages bin end dealers after a quick buck a lot of them from the "dragon driving type community".

They need more admins on there as the language etc it terrible.

Yep, I've tried, on that thread... but really the best you can ever do is state your case and hope that the one or two people with a tiny bit of curiosity out of the hundreds of numpties and nutcases will read what you wrote and see that there is a different point of view. For that reason only, I stay on the group, but it is getting more and more difficult as time goes on.

I couldn't even read the weight threads, and I will (virtually) slap the next person who says "you can do whatever you like, it's your horse".
 
I had to delete myself off from that group! It's shocking. Basically it's for the most ignorant and selfish owners I've come across.
