every birthday and christmas that comes i have always wondered when that pony will be coming.... i never really expect ti to happen, but theres always that little niggle in the back of my mind wondering if it ever will happen!

my mum's like 'what do you want for your 16th?' me: 'horse' mum:'can't afford one' me: 'nothing then:{'

I always thought that'd work, a pony and nothing else. It never did

I think the ribbon makes all the difference! I didnt get ribbon :( My OH is more a pressie in a carrier bag kinda bloke (nb, horse did not come in a carrier bag, but other pressies have :D)

My mum promised me a pony for my 16th if I was still into horses.

I'm now coming up for my 29th birthday and I'm still reminding her how heartbroken I was when said pony failed to arrive.

Her excuse now is that its my OH's job to surprise me with birthday pony :(

Not a suprise, but I got Ghost as a 15th birthday present and I've had him for 4 and a half years now. The best present I have and will ever have! :D

I bought my daughter a pony for her 10th birthday last year, she already had one which she was out growing.

She had been riding one for my sister in law at her riding school to bring him on as he was young and he came up for sale.

We were going to Braham for her birthday so the day before i arranged a small party at the yard and took her into the indoor school and said since we wouldnt be up on her birthday i would give her a present then. My sister was stood with said pony who had a happy tenth birthday banner round his neck. It was funny as she looked straight past him.

She tell me the tear were from happiness :)

And this is them now :)

My husband bought me a miniature filly for our 25th wedding aniversary last year and then we had to buy another one to keep her company as my big horses would not have her in the field with them, so the second one was his present from me not sure that is what he would have choosen but never mind I love them to bits.

v. happy to say it happened to me! had been riding the cobby at weekends through out the winter in '07, had both Y/O and parents tell me that although he was for sale it wasn't going to happen, and as at the time we were doing extensive work on the house I had no idea so didn't get my hopes up - come my birthday about a week later I was presented with his stable name plate :D:D (envisage 12 year old screaming if you will ;) )

How I didn't find out I have no idea half the yard knew before me!! Definitely the best birthday present in the history of presents and one of the best days of my life :) although a 5 year old cob and 12 year old girl probably wasn't the best idea at the time 5 years later he is absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change him for the world! :D:D

Also those videos on youtube get me every single time, they're adorable! (no film evidence of my reaction unfortunately, although there might be, I honestly can't remember if anyone was filming at the time!)

When I was really little I used to toddle across the lane to see the horses at our neighbours yard. (I was only about 4, no traffic on the lane as it was years and years ago). Neighbour was a dealer, one day she came back with a gorgeous pure black Dartmoor pony, just my size, she would let me sit on him while she led me around. I wanted to take him home, I can remember pleading and driving my parents nuts. Eventually they said he'd been sold to another little girl and I cried my eyes out. It was my birthday that week, on the morning of it my Mum woke me up early and told me to look outside, and there he was!! tied to the cherry tree on the lawn. My pony!

To be honest he turned out to be a little monster and spent the next 5 years chucking me into ditches, hurling me into bramble bushes and biting judges at shows. He would also escape on a boringly regular basis, gallop for miles and have to be retrieved by my Dad. This usually happened at night, poor Dad would get a phone call from the local constabulary at 2am * Hallo...your pony just galloped down the High Street again..*

Ah but happy days!!!

My saffy was for my birthday and christmas! It wasn't a surprise as I'd been riding her for a while and my parents had to check I wanted her as she's a real handful but they bought her for me and I just put any money I had into her. I love her very very much, despite her nasty strops!

I bought my Arnie for my husbands first birthday after we got married :D. I also managed to get a couple of cats that way. So much so, he has now specifically asked for non living pressies in future :(.

His reaction to Arnie was very much "WTF? You've bought me a foal??" but he was really pretty chuffed with him once he got over the initial shock.

Mind you, he gave me my engagement ring in the pocket of the Musto jacket he gave me for Christmas. I never saw that one coming :D

For my 18th I found a lovely coloured 2 year old and my parents bought him for me for my present even though my mum was hoping I'd choose his little half sister who was chestnut and only 8months :D :D :D

However, I wasn't there when he was delivered so I received an email from my mum titled 'Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas' so I kind of assumed that Puzzle was my birthday and christmas present, which I was moreee than happy with!! :D
So I looked through the pics attached to the email:

Does it count, if I bought the Horse myself ? :o

I thought my mum and dad would give me the money for one, however unknown to me, they had brought my 21st birthday pressie already, an all inclusive holiday to Cancun!!

I had my last viewing of Ruby on my birthday and then put the deposit down the same day (some of my birthday money) so wasn't a suprise. But the best birthday ever, a Horse and a holiday to Cancun!!

Here she is
