Anyone got any recommendations for a bubbly that isn't an alcohol free wine/fizz? Just a nice drink for those who don't drink alcohol? I was thinking along the lines of elderflower or something light like that. I thought I'd seen something on the Tesco site but I can't find It now. It would be nice to have a cork and a pop and not too sweet.

Thank you, but what I saw - and I got to it by a lot of googling and going down rabbit holes - was a normal size bottle (70cl?) with a cork. I know this because in the reviews a couple of people mentioned that it was hard to get the cork out! Maybe it wasn't Tesco.

Nosecco is nice. Or M&S do a similar version.

Any of the elderflower fizzles are lovely too but sont think I've had one with a cork screw. Rose lemonade is nice too, if you like rose flavouring.

Thank you everyone 😊 Well it seems schloer is still a favourite. It used to be a Christmas treat when I was a child and I'm 60 now!

I'll get some of the elderflower drinks to try. Shame about the pop but anyone who feels cheated can have an extra pig in blanket to make up for it.

I'm not quite sure what you are after, but if you want something that is not de-alcholised wine but still looks the part and gives a good 'pop' when uncorked then this might fit the bill:

Although they call it a 'wine' it is not - it's a blend of carbonated water, grape juice, green tea and other bits and pieces. It is the best non-alcoholic fizz I've found.

Apart from the apple and elderflower variations, I like ginger ale or cordial and grandchldren go for diet Coke, as do I sometimes.
I dont much care for grape juice, but our children and grandchildren have drunk red grape juice in lieu of red wine at many Jewish celebrations.

No grand children to Christmas lunch this year. They are both going off with their husbands/fiances.

We had schloer as the non alcoholic drinks option at our wedding

J20?

I wouldn't give a stuff about not having a cork to pop and would rather have a drink that I enjoyed 😬

The Kitchen Cabinet (TKC) on R4 said that the best thing this year for non alcoholic sparkling drinks is sparkling tea. They have it in Waitrose so I was going to give it a try. The expert on TKC said it was the tanin in the tea which made it similar to the taste of wine, mimicking the tanin in wine.

I am teetotal and if we go to my Mum she gives me Schloer. I actually prefer tap water or if I must, juice. I would ask the non drinkers who are coming what they would like and believe them if they want something simple.

Wow thanks, lots of suggestions. I'm definitely going to try the 'tea' options, that sounds really interesting. I have got some A-free beer that I know the non drinkers like and we'll have plenty of other soft options, including water. I just thought it would be nice to include them in the round of pop pop fizz, merry Christmas everyone ritual. You can tell I'm organised this year, it would normally be Christmas eve when I was thinking about this stuff.
