What's everyone got planned? Outings or hiding from the rain and getting in the Christmas spirit?

We are just back from a good lesson, nice little catch up with some part time HHOers and then cracked on with Dressage Skool for Darcy. There were very noisy builders next door welding rubber mats together in the new indoor stables attached to the school, so I was super pleased with Darcy for not freaking out and concentrating on his work (mostly :p) he was really fresh as he's hardly done any work for the last 2 weeks, but we capitalised on his energy and worked on acceptance of my right leg and a more forward powerful trot.

Saturday we have another show to go to, and then will be back and forth to trainer's a few times next week to try and crack on a bit with his training. Feel very lucky to be able to use their indoor in between lessons, it's about a 40 min journey but only because the roads are wiggly!

Kira is trotting at last so we will carry on with bits and bobs at home.
Have fun all :)

I did a last min.com and got invited to join a friend at local indoor at lunchtime today, after initial spooky tenseness B settled quite well, was lovely to canter without splashing etc as I haven't boxed her out since beginning of Nov but just been doing relaxing hacking. Friends v young daughter took a few pics but tho have stuck on faceache, am too embarrassed to post on here.
DH has work xmas do on Sat night which means staying over, so plans for riding will be fluid....

MP well done on outing today, good luck at show on Sat.
CH, hope snuffles do one asap!

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

Ooooh I'm super busy. Cramming stuff in before Christmas relly-obligations kick in.
Fab dressage lesson today. I really like my new instructor. Just hope my tests start showing the work we are doing at home.

Then tomorrow I am having a SJ lesson with the eventer, Nicola Wilson who I had a year ago and was lovely.
Then Saturday it's a trip to the technical XC arena at Somerford.

I've given notice too so am definitely moving Amber. So that is exciting too. And tonight is the yard christmas meal. In about an hour in fact and I still need to go to the yard!!

Busy busy AP. Enjoy your night out..

Hope competition goes well milliepops.

We have some Xmas SJ for child on Saturday, and Xmas derby for me on Sunday....

And I have another chest infection :( :(

New pony is settling in marvellously so far, but he is very unfit, so the most he has done is an hours slow hack, or 15 min in the school.

Not much happening here. 41C forecast and the world is burning worse than ever. Also feeling down because E was diagnosed with kissing spine yesterday. It’s not really a surprise but to see it officially is still a shock. She’s had injections into her back and suspensories and I’ll start hacking her out next week. At least it means I wasn’t going crazy when I thought she wasn’t right! She thought it was all a bit exciting and had to doze off a little!

Hoping to be able to hop on L if it gets a bit cooler and less Smokey. Could use a nice ride at the moment!

Sorry for the doom and gloom, hopefully you all have a better weekend than I will!

That's a bugger, Northern ?
At least you know what you're dealing with now, I guess. Is there any end in sight with the fires?

I know it’s not the complete end of the world, and the changes aren’t new so she has been comfortable enough to work when she is properly in work. I guess I’ll have to play it by ear.

Sadly the fire situation is about to get much, much worse. The main fires are uncontrollable which means individual asset protection and back burning when conditions allow. Two volunteer firefighters died today, it’s too dangerous to fight. They aren’t forecasting any rain until February ?

I saw a news report earlier it looked very scary and it's so sad about the fire fighters, it just seems that we have been having so much rain here in contrast to the drought and heat, if only we could get some of our rain to you somehow.

I guess the beauty of a forum with international members is that you can see what it is like on the other side! I don't begrudge you guys for wishing the rain away, sounds like you've had plenty already! We're just in the sad situation where a climate driver is blocking out any sort of moisture coming over the country. It's forecast to break down around February so fingers crossed we can have at least somewht average rainfall then. Just bought 50 bales of hay to last until then, ouch!

No big plans for me. Just playing at home, probably going for a Christmas themed hack.

Also MP, I wouldn't dare start this thread! it is your domain ?

Gosh Northern I won't complain about our rain anymore. It sounds terrifying.

Everyone sounds very busy. My weekend plans are nothing, nada, rien. Working all through Christmas and New Year so a couple of hacks and finishing Christmas prep is all that I can be dealing with.

Northern those fires sound terrible. Stay safe!

I’m well into the Xmas nonsense so will try to fit in riding as and when but not properly until Jan really. If it ever stops raining I’ll do a few more hunts and start with team quest dressage again and see if the new members will get out a bit more! They’ve been out once and won so that’s a nice start.

Plans for this weekend involve christmas shopping, sleep and a lot of alcohol.

Pony goes back to Hospital on the 27th (was supposed to go on 23rd but the vet dealing with his case is away so postponed to 27th) for another set of scans and lameness work ups. hopefully (Cross fingers) we get the ok to come back into work.

Northern, I so wish I could send you some of our rain, we have the opposite problem the river Hull near me has burst its banks and is threatening local properties, the Local Drains (huge 8ft deep ditches) are all on the edge of going over and we have rain today and more rain forcast for the weekend, flood warnings everywhere.

Northern that sounds dreadful. Really hope the rains come as soon as possible.
Conniegirl hope you get good news from the vet.

My busy weekend continued with a SJ lesson with the eventer, Nicola Wilson today. She was so, so lovely. Really encouraging. I was sharing lesson with someone who has been getting placed at intermediate and stepping up to advanced next year with the horse she was on in the lesson. So I was feeling very overfaced/out of place but it was fine. Actually it was good to see someone so far above me still making mistakes, still learning! It truly never ends. The arena was tiny and we were doing super tight turns and lines really focusing on rideability which was just what I needed.

Thanks all. Catastrophic day forecast today, will be on tenterhooks for sure! Wet rainy photos welcome ? the photo was taken yesterday, the smoke is why I’m not riding ?

Wow northern, that is really terrifying - I hope things improve soon.

Sounds like a great clinic AE - yes it's a never ending learning curve isn't it? That's why I love it, always learning

Not much going on here, my folks are visiting for the weekend so meals out and probably a bit of shopping.

Ms hoof boots have arrived, used them for the first time today - lightly lunged this morning so I could have a good look and all looked well so rode this afternoon in the arena and he was already very confident in them so that's great.

Also test riding a new saddle at the min which I really like

Northern you situation sounds absolutely dire and very scary. Hope you and your animals stay safe. Would gladly send rain if I could, it hasn’t stopped here all day.

Hacking the boys in the morning, the delicate DP had very sudden acute compaction colic last weekend so hasn’t done much at all this week. Wanted to take B to winter camp tomorrow but car tax, service, MOT and insurance this month put an end to that ☹️

Hope everyone has a drier weekend than the past week has been.

Indoor trec on Sunday for us. Having been bumped up to inter and inter/open this year we're having to up our game.
This time has a totally new obstacle so will have a practice at home tomorrow.
I see the toys being thrown out the pram! At 22yrs old he doesn't like being told he doesn't know how to do something!

Well we loaded in darkness but arrived to sunshine :D
Another show done and dusted, he did too much sightseeing in the actual test for a very good score but was on best behaviour in general. Today he travelled well, was settled to tack up on the box and then just slightly bright to get on ;) when we had finished our test I thought for the first time, that I wished I had entered 2 classes. He's ready to do a bit more *work* at a show, maybe that will be what helps him learn to knuckle down inside the white boards :p perhaps next time we will hack round a prelim too.

Got to the yard today to find that other liveries were riding for a change..so we did some games ? not done games before with Buzz, he was very good! Didn't get too excited, and nailed the tight turns after a few practices :D
Decided to join one of the (better) riding school group lessons tomorrow for something different, although they may end up doing games as well ha

Great fun at Somerford. I had another blip in confidence after a few 'wahey let's go' moments. I am not scared on her, I just feel like I'm not riding her well enough. But my lovely RI said that Amber is Amber and finds jumping so easy and has so much power that she will always be over the top. So I just need to accept she is who she is and stop comparing my riding and her way of going to others.
