All things considered I am delighted with the Moose Man!! He behaved in an exemplary fashion yesterday!! A complete and utter star!! Considering he has been out of the field only TWICE since June 6th, when I had my accident and those 2 times were last Friday for the farrier and a mane wash and on Tuesday evening for a trim and bath - he was just an angel!! He loaded into a lorry for the very first time in his life like a pro - though the steepness of the ramp was a little confuddling, bless  The lorry was AWESOME!! Moose said he'd like one in blue please :g: It had a haylage rack for him and a deep water bucket for him. Forward facing, space enough for 3. It had wonderful ventilation AND it had a camera so we could watch him whilst we were going along!! SPOILT OR WHAT!!

Unloaded him with a lunge line on his headcollar, just in case! Boots off and I set off to lunge him, which was rather exciting and VERY funny. H had a few other of the surrounding competitors in stitches!! His brakes on grass are wicked - when he decided he'd had enough, he went from canter to HALT and GRAZE within a stride!! I was laughing too much to get cross, but did have to get it together and push him on again - funny boy!

We then tarted him up and put his bridle on and went up for the class. We arrived at the end of the 2yo's, so perfect really, as very little waiting around up there. It was amusing to watch a well known producer, who is used to winning and being in H&H, come last and storm out of the ring!! Throwing the shank of the youngster at the groom and swearing....... Pram, toys and out moment extraordinaire!!

H went in and I was just SOOOOOO proud of him!! I honestly had a lump in my throat!! Especially upon hearing people commenting so favourably on him. Apart from when I was lunging in the lorry park, it's the first time I've seen him moving properly since he has come up in front (though he's still not quite level) and my GOODNESS does he use himself in walk - WOW!! His back is just so supple! And his trot really has finally come!

Anyway, the long and the short of it, is that he came third and he behaved beautifully!! Quite a few people are surprised that I am so pleased, esp. given what beat him, but a) that is showing for you, b) I didn't take him to win and c) I am pleased because he didn't let me down - he was just charming to take out!! I had lots and lots of lovely comments on him and I honestly think I should have put a for sale sign on his arse LOL!!!

Photo overload - sorry!

He is looking as gorgoeus and smart as always. He is such a big filled out horse now. A really lovely type.

BTW when we move house you will have to visit, I'll be a bit closer to you!

Awwww, I'm SO thrilled for you S_N, it has been so lovely watching him grow up through your eyes and his photo's.

He is a real looker - well done! How is he bred?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll answer as SN seemed to have disappeared for the night......
He's by Kings Composer (Souza) & out of a Sportsnight mare.

Lovely looking horse - well done. Agree about the noseband though - but isn't it great when you just get pernickety about the noseband!!! He looks so happy and cheerful to be out and about - can't believe how little practice you have had with him.

Did he win the yearling sports horse class at the RN? If so, my filly was second to him, and is now in foal to King.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL - yes he did! King is a lovely stallion and I couldn't be more pleased with H! He was 5th last year, but he was naughty last year - terrible Twos LOL!

He was a better yearling than 2 or 3yo. I think he will come into his own as a 5yo tbh.

I take it this is your girls bottom in the background

LOL he has grown a tad huh! Still more growing to do too! I think he will def be about 17hh, but still lovely and compact - these pics (my photography skills are not great) do show him off very well really!

Well apparently he's FAT! That's according to my YO...... I can feel his ribs, so IMO not fat! I wouldn't make a young horse fat and it's not nec for Sportshorse Classes anyway.

I didn't know you were moving? You never tell me anything

Would love to come and see you. M is coming back at the end of the month, so you will have to come over then and tell me what you think of her too!

Thank you. He's by Kings Composer (Sousa x Kinglet) out of my SHB(GB) graded mare by Sportsnight x Atlantus.

Drooling... He is GORGEOUS!!

Well done... : )

I really hope my baby behaves like this... somehow I very much doubt it.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! Thank you! It was his first and only party this year, but not his first ever party. He accompanied his dam to one County Show and to her Grading and also to the BEF Futurity as a foal, then as a yearling did 2 county shows and the Futurity and as a 2yo did 2 county shows. He's never been unplaced (not including his first county show as a yearling when he was lame and we had to with draw just as we went into the ring, due to a stone prick) and he's never phased by anything - bold as brass and keen and interested in everything.

Lovely short cannons and a great shoulder, no wonder you are pleased. Noseband didn't do him any favours though in my opinion - sorry

PMSL!! I rate his arse more than his front - I really shouldn't give up the day job - photography, though I love it - is not my strong point! Agree about the nose band, but it was that or one that flopped down his nose! Again, looked better in RL.

Oh bless him, sooooo chilled about it all. I love the 4th pic, is he checking your pocket for polos?
wink.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Not my pockets - I can't run yet, I've tried and it hurts too damn much! He was shown for me by a lovely lady, who is now a firm friend!! All arranged by my friend who was going to show him, but was then unable to. He was exceptionally chilled out - so pleased with him!! Such a change from EofE last year when he tried to take out the Judge and still came 6th - the Judge said his behaviour let him down that day and that he should have been much further up the line. I was surprised the Judge didn't ask him to leave tbh.......
