All things considered I am delighted with the Moose Man!! He behaved in an exemplary fashion yesterday!! A complete and utter star!! Considering he has been out of the field only TWICE since June 6th, when I had my accident and those 2 times were last Friday for the farrier and a mane wash and on Tuesday evening for a trim and bath - he was just an angel!! He loaded into a lorry for the very first time in his life like a pro - though the steepness of the ramp was a little confuddling, bless  The lorry was AWESOME!! Moose said he'd like one in blue please :g: It had a haylage rack for him and a deep water bucket for him. Forward facing, space enough for 3. It had wonderful ventilation AND it had a camera so we could watch him whilst we were going along!! SPOILT OR WHAT!!
Unloaded him with a lunge line on his headcollar, just in case! Boots off and I set off to lunge him, which was rather exciting and VERY funny. H had a few other of the surrounding competitors in stitches!! His brakes on grass are wicked - when he decided he'd had enough, he went from canter to HALT and GRAZE within a stride!! I was laughing too much to get cross, but did have to get it together and push him on again - funny boy!
We then tarted him up and put his bridle on and went up for the class. We arrived at the end of the 2yo's, so perfect really, as very little waiting around up there. It was amusing to watch a well known producer, who is used to winning and being in H&H, come last and storm out of the ring!! Throwing the shank of the youngster at the groom and swearing....... Pram, toys and out moment extraordinaire!!
H went in and I was just SOOOOOO proud of him!! I honestly had a lump in my throat!! Especially upon hearing people commenting so favourably on him. Apart from when I was lunging in the lorry park, it's the first time I've seen him moving properly since he has come up in front (though he's still not quite level) and my GOODNESS does he use himself in walk - WOW!! His back is just so supple! And his trot really has finally come!
Anyway, the long and the short of it, is that he came third and he behaved beautifully!! Quite a few people are surprised that I am so pleased, esp. given what beat him, but a) that is showing for you, b) I didn't take him to win and c) I am pleased because he didn't let me down - he was just charming to take out!! I had lots and lots of lovely comments on him and I honestly think I should have put a for sale sign on his arse LOL!!!
Photo overload - sorry!
