Now you say that, but I know in truth you were hoping for a catch ride on one of WFPs horses

oh god, people who should know better wearing jodhs to badminton, burghley or the Nationals. jeeez. i let it go if they're under 12 (although it never occurred to me when i was that age, and i was mega-keen) but once they're in their teens, or above... words fail me.
"That always makes me laugh - I always think - no, the pony books are not true, WFP or Carl Hester is not about to break his leg and ask you to step into the breach, rubber riding boots and all " hahaha exactly!
i have seen adults in jodhs at Burghley, and they were neither riders nor doing the BYEH. *shakes head in disbelief*

Well the way I see it I guess, is that ok, most people aren't lucky enough to have the talent, the support or the money to get to the top and ride for their country.

But grassroots riders are the ones who buy the products from the companies that sponsor the top riders, they pay subscriptions and entry fees to organisations like BE, BSJA etc. So to some extent, every rider in this country does their bit to help support the elite - so if people want to wear GB tops, why the hell shouldn't they?

you aren't allowed to wear a flag on your jacket or hat unless you've earned it. i guess you can wear whatever jacket you like though.
even those who have earned it don't tend to swan around in TeamGB stuff unless they're actually on a team, at a championship, at the time. i've only ever seen one top rider do it, at a lesser event, and he looked pretty posy and daft tbh.

I agree, I was being a bit tongue in cheek....

I always thought it was illegal to wear a GBR flag if you havn't represented the country? Hm might have been something I made up lol

[/ QUOTE ]

If that was the case, what would the British holiday makers in Spain do with their boxer shorts?

A Section D will carry 15 stone with ease; no need to stop riding him - especially as he is so hugely talented. What a waste.

Well... duh!! Of course....
wink.gif

I also have to name drop and talk about my horses at the top of my voice, just to let everybody know that I'm horsey... of course they don't realise this already, being at a horse event and all
smirk.gif

I agree about people wearing jodhs at horsey events! Its like they feel the need to prove to EVERYONE that yes, they can ride!

my goat has custom-made rugs and saddle, thank you very much. i could tell you what size, but then i'd have to kill you.
wink.gif

he refuses to wear pony or foal rugs, as they are beneath his dignity. he likes diamantes stuck to his horns (ha, eat your heart out unicorns, my goat has TWO spangly horns) and glittery hoof varnish. my farrier had a nightmare, what with his cloven hooves and all, but miniature heart-bars in reverse seem to work nicely. have to watch he doesn't overreach and pull them off though, the poor darling.

seriously, someone does have a camel that does a bit of dressage, and i've seen a picture of a hippo doing a well impressive extended trot... mind you, that was without a rider on...

Because they havent worked there asses off and spent thousands, to be intitled to wear the GB flag or jackets.

OMG i am wetting myself here!!

are we saying no-one should wear a football top with their / their fve footballers name on it because they're not footballers?

Surely the public have a right to show support for their country's riders? Personally i wouldnt be seen dead in a GB top but those who do buy and wear them aren't going to fool anyone (except fools) so where's the problem?

It just riles me, as i have earned my flags and my GB jacket, to see someone flouncing round in a 30 quid toggi jacket they bought from the local tack shop.
