My clippers have stopped working! They were fine a few weeks ago, I lent them to a friend to trim her dog, then I've tried to clip Henry tonight and the blades aren't cutting at all:(

Do you think a service will sort them out? Or new blades or something? Poor Henry is boiling:mad:

Where do you get them serviced? Do they need to be sent off to the manufacturers? (I've had them less than a year, so they are not overdue).

either send them back to the manufacturer, or someone who services and PAT tests clippers. they should also be able to sharpen the blades.

Im such as wasteful person :D

I got a wondeful pair or Andis and wahl clippers from TK MAX for $20. To service them and sharpen the blades is $40. I just get a new pair.

Saying that i have only had to do that once they have lasted a long time.

Sent my horse clippers to this company after they overheated and the safety thing popped, they serviced and sharpened blades, did a fantastic job, don't even heat up now

Its silly isn't it, it just makes you do that though, what's the point of paying more than they are to buy new

If they're less than a year old are they still under warranty? I've got a set of Moser Max clippers that something went wrong with after a few months and it got sorted on the warranty, they've been fine since.

Its probably the blades, do u know if your friend wahsed the dog b4 she clipped? get some blade wash and give them a good clean and keep a tooth brush at hand and give between the blades a good brush between and after use and use some cool lube to cool them as this helps keep them going and check for greasy residue as this will stop them working efficiently. Is his hair clogging in them or just not going through the blades?

Blades will last alot longer if dogs are wahsed and thoroughly dry before being shaved/clipped, you probably do with henry but your friend may not have.

I use Diamond edge to sharpen my scissors/blades e.t.c.

Have to admit, I'm very naughty, I just give Henry a good brush then whip all his fur off with the clippers:o He takes so long to dry after the bath that I'd have to do it over two days otherwise, as he is a wriggly nightmare to hairdryer! His hair is just not going through the blades at all, they are snagging a few hairs, but not making any inroads on the floof. I do always give them a good clean though, and an oil, but maybe that is what has done for them. Will try giving them a clean and see if that helps, thanks :)
