My daughters pony has half grown his winter coat but is still shedding. He’s doing a hunter trial next weekend and I’d like to clip him first but I’ve never clipped an actively shedding pony..!

Thoughts most welcome please! I’m not sure what I think might happen but I’ve just always had it drilled into me that you don’t clip a moulting coat!?

Spring shedding for horses who will show in the spring/summer is more of an issue with clipping as it can affect the shine on the summer coat. This time of year isn't such a big deal - you'll just need to do it again in 3 weeks time!

Did mine today, then will take more off in a Months time, then usually another clip around Christmas depending on weather... Done this for years no issues.
