Clipping and leaving unrugged?

Nugz is hunter clipped and he's been out during the day nekkid and in a no fill overnight. I did expect comments and an RSPCA notice when I got to the yard later than planned today as he'd been out in the heavyish rain for an hour, but thankfully opinions on my pony cruelty kept under wraps :D

I have his snuggy hood outdoor jimjams at the ready and hoping to get away with these and a lightweight over the winter. Which probably means it'll be like the Arctic this year :o

I love that I'm not the only one that doesn't bundle them up in four layers once it drops below 10C!

Having worried about it she is absolutely fine, perfectly warm every time I check her and is still getting too hot on occasion. I think I'll have to take more off!

I have a horrendously hairy trad'. She looks like a mammoth she has that much of a winter coat from about sept - feb.
She also sweats up after just breaking a walk. She's a v hot horse and is also black -- doesn't have much going for her :P
I rightly or wrongly clip all season round and turnout without a rug during winter.

very mild here still on the S Wales/Herefordshire border, my sec D is clipped out and hasn't worn a turnout rug since the spring (it was even *raining* this morning and everything, lol). She's a hot horse so currently unrugged overnight in the stable too...

other people will always poke their noses in and tell you otherwise but you just have to do what suits your horse. There were several turned out with rugs this morning in the drizzle, but the forecast was for warm dry weather so ...each to their own.

Have to admit I got it wrong this morning - yes it was mild but it was due to rain pretty much all day so thought might be a bit much so left him in his no fill. Turns out I was wrong. Feel bad :(

I only start rugging mine when he gets a clip, which is a chaser clip, he isn't overweight. But the rug I use is just a rainsheet to keep him dry and clean and it stops the wind-chill factor.

The weather has to be vile and really, really cold to put on a rug with filling. I bought a new rug called medium weight last year and I think it was only used a couple of times.

Pony chaser clipped now. Will remain out unrugged. I think he is quite releaved to have some off.

Once the weather changes and it gets properly cold he will then be full clipped and rugged accordingly.
