just got off the phone with my Dad conversation went i little like this:
Dad- "i clipped your horse this morning"
Me-"Really?" (thinking this man has never used clippers before in his life

Dad "Yeah, i think i've done a pretty good job!"
Me "what type of clip did you give her....hunter,blanket,trace etc....?"
Dad "owhhh i don't know i just took it all off"

"alright what do you mean all off? you left a saddle trace didn't you?"
Dad "oopps no i didn't realise i should have"
Me:

" ok... so what else did you do?"
Dad " well she was a bit naughty with her back legs so couldn't take it all off like her front but i've made it work! "

I know he's only trying to help but really did he have to do his first clip on MY HORSE!?!?!?

When i asked if he'd done his he said "owhh no you can do him!"

He also said that he attempted to do a design (of what i don't know?? ) but it went wrong so now just thinking of the amount of lines he's left too

you have to take pics and post them so we can all admire his handy work! did he take all the legs out eg down the leg?.... he sounds like a very ambitiuos man I commend that attitude, but if I was you i'd invest in an exercise sheet

OMG, definitely need pictures. I just had a giggle to myself in the middle of the office, imagining what the result would be if MY dad tried to clip my horse!!

I think it sounds hillarious we could sell it to channel 4 as a new reality show 'dads that clip' it would be a fly on the wall show where the dads of riders get their horses ready for competition, plaiting, washing, clipping hahahahahaha the carnage!

I'm sure he was trying to be helpful, but I can't believe he didn't ask first!

Any chance you can clip his horse in exchange as a "thanks" for doing your's but put in a nice wee design of your own?! I'm thinking something along the lines as modelled by milliepops' lovely pony?!

Hee hee will be looking forward to seeing the beastie at shows to see what the "design" is.
Clipped Jen on Friday night and by contrast she actually behaved and I haven't missed any ginormous patches. Feeling a bit smug as she normally fidgets and ends up looking a right state!
 
Lol, poor beastie though!

My Dad's first clips were pretty bad too. Although after the first couple of times he's actually pretty good it. Which is great as S is a nutter when she's being clipped, even double tied with an endless supply of apples. She just gets very ticklish and lands in a heap on the floor

I wouldn't worry about the lack of saddle patch, I honestly don't bother with them anymore I could never get it in quite the right place - my Dad would put the saddle on slightly off so it would be an inch too far forward or back!

We clipped my poor little Welsh B yesterday - all off face, legs etc - left him double tied in the barn while I went to wash S's tail ready for SJ, 2 minutes later I went back in to find a headcollar done up and double tied, suspended in mid air! But not a pony in sight and found him in the field looking lonely and shivering the muppet!


Hmmmm... me thinks we need to think up a 'design' for his when you do it

Re- attacking 'his' horse technically its my old eventer that he's been using as a happy hacker so i refuse to get-my-own back on her just incase i end up going hunting on her - not sure i could handle the torture that i'd get from some of the whips

I don't think so but I had one, I'm married to one and Rosie has one and they are (or were) so fond and proud of their daughters they love to spoil them - it's just that they often don't think things through

Diff subject but still parents......


My poor ma came to see mr p in the summer and grabbed the elect gate fencing with both hands(the springy one),boy did she jump(poor old thing),i know i shudnt have but i did chuckle! Hence to say,she's never wanted to pop down the yard again
