Ok so not a nightmare as I managed to get him done, but my normally perfect cob was a little bugger to clip today. I had to borrow someone elses clippers as I got mine out and they were broken, so I was using ones that are a lot louder than mine-do you think that could be it? He was fine until I did his belly and armpits then he had a paddy and I struggled to do the rest. I can normally clip him myself and dont even need a headcollar on him to do his head, but I couldnt get near it today

Any ideas why he was like this?? The clippers were cutting fine so Im sure the tension etc was ok. I just hope hes not going to be like this from now on

First question - did you tell anyone that he is normally good to clip???

If so, that's your problem right there! Horses, just like men, tend to do the opposite of what you say to show you up good and proper infront of your mates lol

On a serious note... he may just simply be 'not in a good mood'.... try not dwell on it, and get your clippers fixed. Perhaps your mates clippers got hot quicker underneath and was abit too hot on his skin??

Yes I told everyone he was good to clip! That must be it then...!
Ive just been down to finish him off, had to get a big burly man to hold him for me and he was as good as gold...I think he was taking the pee before, although as I said never had any problems with him

Had you altered his routine at all to clip him today? Only ask because I clipped 3 horses today, and the first was my mare who I left in to clip this morning (usually turn her out first thing). She was rather on her toes as she (rightly) thought she should be out playing rather than stuck in having a hair cut! She is usually an angel to clip so I'll let her off today

Yes! I left him in to clip...but hes not normally fussed about going out. In fact as soon as I turn he out he stands at the gate asking to come in.
