Clipping stencils. To use or not to use?

I'd like to put either a heart or star in Sophie's bum when she gets clipped.
Would it be ok to just chalk on a design and work round it, or is it better/easier to use a stencil?

And if I were to use a stencil, could I do a DIY one? If so, how?

I did a heart on FoxhillBelle's bum when I clipped her and it was fairly easy. I say go for it.

Did one today doing stars and hearts, just cut out the template then have someone to help you hold it on. Or a good website that sells different designs that stick on is stencilbum.com (i was recommended by someone on here)

I just did it freehand, haven't ever done one before but Belle's a bit of a barbie pony so it seemed appropriate. D doesn't have anything like that but most people really like it on Belle.

Hearts and stars are easy enough to do freehand I would say. Stencilbums are brilliant for more fancy designs though!
