I will be clipping my mare this afternoon. She is great to clip and doesn’t mind her head being done either but she is so dopey/greedy the when I do the lower parts of her head she tries to eat the clippers. Any tips to stop her as I am worried if I am not quick enough to stop her then she could really hurt herself!

I clipped one like this on the weekend. It's a right pain! But I kept his headcollar on and used one with a buckle at the throat which I undid so I could get at his head with the clippers. Then I grabbed the noseband in one hand and clippers in the other - I could use the headcollar to keep his head pointing in the right direction. It's a bit fiddly to clip through the holes in the headcollar but worked for me.

Suppose you could use half a bridle to the same effect.

Great thank you, I will look out an old head collar that I don’t mind getting hairy! I have to admit that she is so good that I generally just take her head collar off completely.

Well if you want to take her headcollar off, then I'd do the same but grab her nose

instead! I use left hand to hold head, and clippers in right hand as I find that easier, and clip as much as I can from the near side.
