Right, thanks for all the replies, really didn't expect such a lot!!
I emailed the co owner the the bitch last night, and got a very nice reply:
Today I talk to people and if they agree to make their by available to sire one or two litters I make them Co-own the dog to assure that they really mean what they say. It also assures that the dog cannot mate a KC registered bitch (and yes, puppy farmed bitches are also KC registered) that is not to my liking.
The contract will clearly state that the dog will live with you and that I will never take possession of him. Give me a day or two and I will send the contract to you so that you can
read through it.
You will still own the boy and he will never be taken from you.
She is going to send through a contract soon for us to read through. I really do believe that they are only looking at
improving the breed, so i see no problem in letting them choose the bitches, I don't know much at all about breeding dogs so it's a relief to me tbh. I have seen for myself how picky they have been in finding homes for the current litter, and they are still in contact with nearly all dogs bred by the,
going back years!!
I think I would be happy with this arrangement as long as the contract states that he will not be used prolifically as a stud dog, and that if at any time for behavioural/ medical reasons he needs to be castrated then that's ok!
