How tall are you Rhino?

My horse is only nearly 16.1, and someone stood next to him said, 'oh! hes only little isnt he, you make him look massive when youre riding him! '

:D:D

I'm actually 5'3" but I look particularly small in that photo! He's quite a fine/narrow horse as well

I had a great comment in a dressage test a few years ago; 'You rode him WELL as he is BIG!!' Well, no, he is 15.3hh actually :D

That reminds me - another beautiful thing about dumbbloods. Even when they've only been backed a week, they're so thick that when their owner tried to mount from a plastic chair, and falls through said chair, which then traps one leg, whilst the other is still in the stirrup - a long way up, all they do is look a bit confused!
Don't ask how I know this!!

I was chuckling at this, until I read:

It was highly amusing - for those who weren't firmly attached to both a chair, and 17.3 of just backed horse! In fact, they were laughing so hard that not one person was able to come and help me! I seriously thought I was going to do myself a mischief - thank god for stirrups that come off the bars easily!

I'm going to start breeding them with built in rope ladders...

and then cracked up completely!

I have a TB and a cob, does that mean I have 2 halves of a dumbblood ( hot blooded horse and a cold blooded horse ;))?

Love my cob he is a dude but he is my chilling out pony that occasionally gets to go and have some fun (hunting), whereas my TB will be my competition horse and has to be all serious :p

Noooo - aforementioned dumbblood was my serious competition horse, but also did all kinds of fun stuff. The only time I ever fell off him was due to laughing so hard whilst doing gymkhana games that I went all weak and pathetic and went out the side door trying to retrieve a flag from a cone. He was utterly horrified and stood there frozen to the spot with his eyes shut while I rolled around on the floor underneath him squawking like a chicken!

I had one of them once. She was awesome, but a bit too clever. Only horse I've ever owned who checked for traffic hazards before deciding whether to spook violently at things!

She also did tempi changes which got higher and higher the further you went, and would wait til she was doing such massively bouncy ones that she was firing you straight out of the saddle, then she'd spook, whip round and drop her shoulder - all at rattlesnake speed. Cow!! That one did have me on the floor fairly regulalrly

Maybe they need to read "Cobs Can" by Omar Rabia....such a lovely man. I had a couple of lessons on him on my TB. I really enjoyed them.

I must have read your mind!!!

Pictoral evidence of Omar's stunning cob mare, Ketchup piaffing :D

I think that ANY horse can go as far as you want it too if they have the right conformation and attitude to boot.

Lets face it, a pooly put together Warmblood will struggle with higher movements whereas a correctly put together cob will be able to do it much easier. And once you utilise their massive bums, the power that comes with it is immense!

I don't discriminate breeds, its all down to riding, conformation, attitude, trainability, rideability etc. There are so many variables that make a decent dressage horse that I can't understand why people pin it on certain breeds?

I used to ride a cob for a lady who was well put together, level headed and once infront of your leg he was so soft in the hand, forwards, picked up lateral work easily etc. Wheras my own Warmblood who isn't as rideable as the cob, has 10 fits everytime I try to teach shoulder in
