heya there im new - i am wanting some questions answering in relation to colic - what can anctually trigger collic and is it normal for 4 horses to go down in the same week all on different hay from different places all in different fields ?? thanks

Hi,

Causes of colic include but are not restricted to:

Stress\anxiety
Pain
Dehydration
Poor quality feed\forage
Sand
Fresh cut grass
Ulcers

As for 4 horses going down with colic in the same week, do you mean that they are all on one yard but turned out in different fields with a different hay supplier for each horse?

obviously the 4 hores have all been subjected to the same 'trigger', not necessarily the hay!
