Elf On A Shelf
...
Sorry I'm with Bonny on the coloured TB front. I'm a traditionalist - bay, chestnut, brown and grey. Pancake was a chestnut with excessive sobino splashes - not a full blown coloured. Still not my cup of tea though - I hate too much white!
As for the subject of ex-racehorses - how can you justify calling it an "Ex-Racehorse" when it hasn't had the full racing experience? It's all fine and well them galloping at home - we had one so bloomin useless it never made it twice up our gallops before we gave up on it - but until they have been to the track, felt the buzz, done all the pre-parade stuff, saddled up, jumped off and actually raced I wouldn't call it an Ex-Racehorse. Sorry.
Ones that go into training but leave before racing I call Failed Racehorses - they simply weren't good enough either by being too slow, not got the mentality or they broke before they made it to the track - all failures.
A horse currently in training but yet to race I call an Attempted Racehorse. Until it proves it's worth by either racing or being booted out of school it's name won't change.
I also hate the term Ex-Racers - to me that sounds as though the horse has raced but has been put out of racing for being useless. For the true racehorses that had their careers and retired due to age after at least a few years of service I prefer to call Retired Racehorses.
On the subject of Angrove's horse - I will be interested to see how it runs but I'm not holding out any hopes for it - sorry. You also mention that it had pretty much a year in the field at home, did you not also say at some stage that he had had a leg injury? Or was that another horse? Might be mixing 2 up here.
