Thanks for everyone's comments. I agree that if it is a welfare concern then things need to be said. At my yard the YO is probably the most experienced or the onsite instructor but I can see how on other yards it is not the case.
It has been good to see that people would act if there was a danger aspect but otherwise only comment constructively or when asked. Totally agree Yultide_Gal that some comments, even if not asked for, can be helpful if done in the right way. I don't mind being offered advice, I welcome it, but I hate hearing people put others down or when it is done in a twisted way isn't nice or helpful.
