Comments on this horse...

Looks really nice to me. Well priced too. Looks to have plenty of bone for the type in the ridden picture.

I'd want to view it though. Surely its not THAT far to Sussex from Devon (few hours?). If you were in Scotland I'd understand.

Overall light of bone which is a shame. I'd want to see better pictures of front limbs, based on that photo I'd steer clear but it could so easily be an optical illusion.
If the front limbs aren't as bad as they first appear then yes I'd consider that horse at that price as a project, looks a useful type. It would also be left a further 6 months before doing any more work if it were mine.

ive moved out of my on yard, am now on grazing ith a stable if needed.. and a small school so for the winter .. id proberly do a bit with her for a month to get to know her etc and then leave her till end of feb/march when weather starts to improve., with a baby theres no point stop starting. but yes I also agree a winter being fed up and left as a horse would do her good lol i did check she would live out!

nope its not, and i have family that way BUT it is a long when when you dont drive.. and also have other horses that need seeing to each day..

not ideal, but to be honest last time i bought a horse I travelled all over the country had much time wasted, cost much in fuel/hotels temprement im not to bothered about.. if its evil so be it.. general well being and soundness and how it goes undersaddle is the big things.. all of which can be judged at a 5 stage vetting.

I agree with everyone that says she's back at the knee. I wouldn't buy her because of this. Back at the knee makes the leg weaker (especially on landing after a jump).

I'd definately want to see it in person - I would absolutely not buy it unseen.

I'm sure you'll find just what you're after locally:rolleyes:

I actually like her very much.

Light of bone doesn't bother me but then i'm a lightweight rider. My old horse had little legs like spindles but she was tough as old boots. I remember hearing in my equine science lectures that the amount of bone in inches doesn't affect affect bone density.

I also think she is fairly cheap.

She looks like a pretty, classy, little mare :)

The only thing that would concern me is why has she not sold yet, thats all :)

I dont actully have a set what i want.. out of the entire country theres her and a little traditonal cob thats a lot older they are the only 2 that have intrested me enough to make a call. theres sausage all about in Devon.

lady said she has had 3 viewings, all came up with normal daft excuses to young,, to small, and one person anted her to sign a bit of paper to guarentee that mare didnt, buck spook nap etc.. to which she said no ..

I like her...as others have said, ask for a clearer picture and go from there... if she`s what you want and as you said your not going to be high end competing so doesn`t need to be confo perfect..... I would get her vetted though :)

I think I have been looking at this mare on the web, would have her like a shot if I was serious about buying right now, sadly have 2 already.
JC

FWIW i like her :D i'm crap at the confo stuff though- surely if you have her vetted by a trusted vet then he will point out anything that he's worried about? i'd be tempted to offer them a bit less than the asking price tho...

No, a horse doesn't need to be conformationally perfect to be a good brained and sound horse however back at the knee is a more serious fault compared to forward at the knee.

Yeah I agree back at the knee is a no no but that why i said to ask for clearer photos and also get her vetted....

Looks an interesting sort, certainly something that I'd like to view anyway, you can't really judge the horses confirmation fairly from that photo though, something you'd need to see in the flesh, but a beautiful colour and lovely build/type.

15.2 rising 4, broken 8 weeks hacks alone/company been on a pub ride, works in an outline and pops a jump. bred in ireland is a bit of a mix including cob. nice temprement and very unflappable. any one care to comment on confo.. looks a bit like shes leaning forward in the piccie, and I think she may have a lot more filling out to do.
and price... what would you expect to pay.

Hi, do you mind me asking if you know her name? I am NOT in the market but she does look similar to my foals dam who was sold to devon earlier in the year, I was just curious :)

No need to be sorry W.. i wanted opinions. I looked at her ad several times before I even called. theres something about her I like and from the sounds of it shes very easy to do.

price is coming into it as im trying to free up money for other things, but then any thing else is pure tb and It has to live out most of the winter so not keen. and even going up to 5k I just cant find anything I like.. did find a nice unbroken 4yr pally for a daft price but his backed looked so odd that I wouldnt of even braved putting a piccy up lol!

looks like he has a decent roach back.

fwiw i would rather have a roach backed horse than one that's back at the knee- the best jumper i have ridden had a much worse roach back than the one pictured above :)

if you are happy to buy unseen/travel the stud that stand's Ellie's sire usually runs on youngsters- i can pm you the details if you like?

they are near Leominster.
