I'm thinking of having a go at some affiliated BD but I want to try before I become a member. I know u can do it on a ticket and I also remember something about only being able to do prelim/novice. Is that on the ticket or without the ticket?

My computer is being stupid and wont let me look at the rule book otherwise I would look on there myself.

prelims you dont need a ticket they just put you in the open section not the restricted.

you will need a ticket for a novice test :)

ets not sure about higher classes I assume you can use tickets for those too.

yup, I normally just write non BD member on the entry form just so they know, my local centres seem to use different style entry forms though.

its good because unlike BSJA you can still win the money if entering a prelim like that or on a ticket. :D

I compete BD at Elementary and know that you can use a ticket up to that level. I have to say I thought that you had to have a ticket even at Prelim, otherwise you have to go in Hors Conceurs which means you cannot be placed or receive prize money but do get the benefit of listed judges comments from your score sheet.

yup as I say it just means that as a non member you are in the open section not the restricted, but at prelim no ticket required and you can take winnings home :)....... I havent quite managed the latter yet but I know friends who have done this.

As Ester says, you can enter Prelim in the Open section without a ticket. For any other level you need a class ticket per class entered. Points earned at Novice level and above.

Good luck with your first BD show.
