OP, I feel sorry for your situation, and I think the "lease" option is almost a red herring here. You need to get into a situation where you are enjoying being a part of the horse's journey. Does the level of competition really matter? Bringing him on with a talented young rider might turn out to be so much more rewarding (and cheaper too!) than the pro option that is clearly making you unhappy and making you feel unwanted or unneeded in the horse's life. I hope you all fall on your feet together!
thanks I wish there was a situation where I could be involved still. The level doesn’t really matter but I do want him competing. Thanks just need to have a think

Currently weighing my options up and I am hoping to speak with a family friend tomorrow who events for some advice. My current options are
- The potential lease about 1 h or so a way meaning I would be able to go that offen ( currently see him 4 days a week min ).
- I have seen an add on horse quest pretty local to me looking for a lease full loan on a private yard . This option would be great as it’s close but I don’t know them at all .
- Find another pro that may not be local

I take it that you think it’s a little bit weird to be acting like that with your clients horse then. I originally put it down to just being because she cares about the horse and spends a lot of time with him. I have obviously seen riding school kids refer to horse they ride a lot as my whatever. You know and people who take horse on loan etc. But it’s a bit odd . Thanks

Yes, I know a few pros who event and they always make it abdunantly clear who’s horse it is they are riding on social media, thank the owners and allow the owners as much involvement as they wish. You should be made to feel like a valuable part of the team and not an inconvenience.
I think you are wise to move your horses from the pros yard home and then make a decision of what to do next from there. I don’t think you need to give her a reason, just tell her you will be picking them up and taking them home for a few days then once they are home you can go and get all your things and tell her they won’t be coming back as you have had a change in circumstances. She doesn’t need to know any more than that.
Best of luck x
