Ok all you Rug Junkies it's confession time!
grin.gif

What type of horse do you have, what clip (if any) and what rugs do you have?

I know this topic has been done to death most likely but I am just about to sort out Tara's winter wardrobe and I need some ideas
grin.gif

She's not clipped yet and is in a Weatherbeeta Lando lightweight turnout with neck and Weatherbeeta Jasper Lightweight Stable Rug with neck.
Will be clipping her in the next week or so - probably a blanket clip but will see how it goes...

I've already bought the Weatherbeeta Heavyweight Orican Turnout with neck - she also came with a nice Medium Weight with a detachable neck (can't remember make

) so I am all set for Turnout rugs.

she's Grey so I quite fancy full necks and also she's at livery so the easier the wardrobe to put on the more likely they will get it right

I think I would quite like to get the Rhino Stable Plus but it might be too warm for the moment even with a clip so am debating getting a medium weight first - decisions, decisions!!

We also have a nice Weatherbeeta cooler and an excercise sheet so that makes... 6 (so far!)

Sooo what do you do??
grin.gif

I have a cooler, as Scribs isnt clipped yet, he is only doing about 20 mins work a day but does get a little bit damp.

I have mediumweight and a heavyweight T/O, and a neck cover which can be attatched to either of these rugs... And that's it!

I do have a pretty sad looking stable rug for desperate times but apart from that he just lives in his T/O.

I have far too many rugs - luckily though my new horse that only came with one Weatherbeeta Landa T/O is the same size as my girlie !!!!!!

The list is
2 Lightweight turnouts without neck covers
1 medium weight T/O with neck cover
1 medium weight T/O with detachable neck cover
1 Heavy weight T/O

Stable Rugs
1 light weight quiltmaster
without neck
1 Light weight quiltmasta with built in neck cover
1 Medium weight quiltmasta with neck cover (that I use as an underblanket when girlie is clipped)
1 heavy weight stable rug (can't remember the make)

2 fleeces and various coolers/travel rugs

My girlie is not being clipped this year as she is not working - but she is a bit prone to dropping weight if she is feeling cold

I will need to have a rummage in my garage,as my rug collection is out of control.....there all cleaned and neatly stacked....and I have lost count!
confused.gif

At the mo at yard I have M/T Cotton sheet,a Masta fleece, three light weights, one cleaned middle weight....Erm,two middle weight stable rugs....I think there is Bucus stable, and a cleaned M/T one!
My OH is fed up with them......most of them where brought when I owned my wimp of a TB mare who felt the cold...but TBH all in I owe most likely 40 ish!

I'm starting to feel sorry for Mist as she doesn't have as extensive wardrobe as all the other horses on here!

She has a MW turnout which she is currently wearing and has a HW one with a full neck on the way. Currently she isn't clipped, but may get a bib. She is 29 though so I want her to remain cosy! She does had a stable rug, but rarely wears it, we tend to leave the turnouts on.

40 is a serious collection!! Good job lol
grin.gif

Hanz - the new turnouts are so good that it's much easier to do that! I remember new zealands and not being able to lift them when they got wet lol

blondegirl - I like your ideas there.
I could get a Mediumweight to use now whilst it's mildish and a heavyweight stable rug for later then if I really need to I can layer them... although Kent seems quite nice and warm compared to Scotland
grin.gif

Pickle has a full clip,he has no full neck rugs and he came with most his rugs he has

One Fal mediumweight (came with him)
One Fal Heavyweight (came with him)
One Mark Todd heavyweight stable (came with him)
One newmarket heavyweight rug (very heavyweight I never use it came with him!)
One Masta Cooler
One Masta lightweight rug
One thermatex rug

I found getting the quiltmasta with a neck a lot cheaper than the specific underblankets and they work just as well.

at the moment both of mine are in the lightweight stable rugs but the boy has not been clipped yet (will probably wait a couple of weeks yet as he will be having full clip)

I have a WB (who feels the cold)

I have:
4 fleeces
1 sweat rug
1 cooler
1 lightweight & neck (Weatherbeeta)
1 mediumweight & neck (Weatherbeeta)
1 heavyweight & neck (Masta)
1 medium indoor quilt (Masta)
1 heavy indoor quilt with neck (Masta)
1 underquilt with neck
1 Mark Todd exercise sheet

He was clipped on Saturday - has a full clip with legs left on and half face

Come on CBAnglo - I think you should confess all on here

Yep I need to flog a few with the credit crunch and all......I have tack also comeing out my ears......see all from my TB mare and do you think a cob would look good in a Stubben itsy witsy bridle.....nope,had to buy him workman like ones!

50 rugs! Holy cow!
I thought I was bad, but I do bring myself to sell a few now and then, but I'm a sucker for a bargain and E-bay is soooooo easy

shocked.gif

My creature lives in her rambo duo in the winter and I have the 300g and the 100g liners for that.
In summer she lives in the sweetitch hoody +/- the lightweight rhino if it's raining (which it nearly always is, this is the West of Scotland fer cryin' out loud!)
I've got another lightweight rambo which is heavier than the rhino but not as heavy as the duo (need to prepare for all sorts of temperatures)
I don't have a stable rug, but there's (let me see now) 4 fleeces, one woolen show rug, 2 lightweight fleece coolers, 2 mesh coolers, one toweling bath robe, one T/O to protect my good rugs when my field mates start chewing everything in the spring, 2 reflective ex. sheets, one woolen ex. sheet...um...I think that's all.
Oh dear.
That's 18 rugs for one horse.
But I Need them all!!!

If I listed all my rugs I would be here all day. Both horses have at least one LW, MW & HW turnout & stable, most of which are Fal, Rambo & Mark Todd plus a couple of thermatex and numerous coolers, fleeces, exercise sheets etc each. I also have a Utility Room full of nice rugs which don't fit either of them
blush.gif

I am feeling a LOT better about thinking I need both a MW and HW stable rug the more everyone posts
grin.gif

Wonder if I can get them delivered to the stables so BF doesn't see

Different weight rugs are brilliant as you can react depending on the weather and they can be used to layer when it gets cold.
Osc has:
3 sheets
1 fleece
1 thin sweat sheet type thing
1 horsewalker rug
1 coolex
1 woollen day rug
1 l/w stable rug
1 m/w stable rug
1 light h/w stable rug
2 h/w stable rugs
1 l/w turnout rug
1 m/w turnout rug with detachable neck
1 h/w turnout rug with detachable neck
1 h/w turnout rug with full neck
1 waterproof exercise sheet
1 coolex exercise sheet
1 woollen exercise sheet.

Ok so counting them up means 20 and that's just for him. Plus I've recently had a big clear out!! I do use most of them on a yearly basis though.

My pony has:
3 sheets
1 m/w stable rug
1 h/w stable rug
1 l/w turnout rug
2 m/w turnout rugs
1 h/w turnout rug

That's probably more reasonable. However she lives out so I'm not sure why she's got stable rugs!

I work in a governement building and we aren't allowed to have things delivered here - so inconvenient
frown.gif

My HW Stable rug of choice has now changed to the Shires Snug Rug Combo as it looks so toasty!
Anyone got this one and what's it like?

Well as an ex Business Continuity Manager I think it's important to be prepared for all eventualities

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it....
grin.gif

I have an ID X in walking only work with no clip and masses of fluff. She has:
two Weatherbeeta fleece coolers
a Thermatex
a Masta summer sheet/cooler
four Weatherbeeta stable rugs in 100g, 200g, 300g and 360g varieties
a lightweight Mark Todd turnout, with removable hood
a 40g Fal Bulldog, with removable hood
a mediumweight Mark Todd turnout
a heavyweight Rhino turnout, with removable hood
two spare Amigo rugs (as they're both too big), one light and one mediumweight
I think that's it!
I actually only now use the lightweight turnouts and one of the fleece coolers, as she only really needed all those rugs when she was clipped out, in full work and carrying no extra weight (insulation!)

Poutu is a TB, unclipped and she has:
2 fleeces one is a full neck cosy robe from robinsons.
a lightweight half neck stable rug
a mediumweight no neck robinsons stable rug
a loveson heavyweight full neck stable rug.
Oh and a purple weatherbeeta cotton showsheet / travel sheet.
For turnout she has:
3 rainsheets ( I seem to have built up a collection)
a mark todd no neck lightweight
a fal pro mediumweight with a detachable neck
2 heavyweights. One is an amigo heavyweight with a detachable neck and the other is a Weatherbeeta Orican combo..
And a fly sheet for summer purposes.

She has 14 rugs
blush.gif

blush.gif

2 WB Medium Landa Combo
2 WB medium 3/4 necks
3 Masta medium with matching necks
1 WB Heavy weight
4 rain sheets
2 WB Landa Combo rain sheets
1 Masta Heavy weight
1 Loveson Heavy weight
1 Loveson Heavy 3/4 neck
5 stable rugs
1 thermatex
2 coolmasta's
4 fleeces
1 flyrug
2 waffle coolers
2 net sweat sheets
1 wool rug
1 newmarket rug
1 under rug

40 TOTAL!!
shocked.gif

Thats it!!! lol
grin.gif
I promise not to buy more .....

But while im confessing I have started to get addicted to buying miniature rugs for my doggie!!
shocked.gif

1 comfort Zone fleece
1 weatherbeeta rug
1 Horsewear Rambo rug

She looks sooo cute i cant help it at least they are a bit cheaper!!
grin.gif

Oh dear, I have a dreadful confession. Two of my horses stable rugs are Lavenham Cosys - does anyone remember them, they must be at least 20 years old! My poor horses, perhaps they will come back into fashion.

All my turnout rugs have baler twine for fillet strings (as my horses keep clipping themselves onto fences).

Oh dear.

Oh I definitely agree with you
grin.gif

I have far far too many. bear in mind I have the one horse who gets really hot and never seems to be cold

6 fleeces
2 coolers
2 travel rugs
1 thermatex type thing
2 summer sheets
4 fly rugs
2 lightweight stable
1 medium weight stable
1 heavy weight stable
1 underug
3 medium weight turnou
2 lightweight turnout
1 heavyweight turnout
3 exercise sheets
1 all in one mac for shows
1 horse walker rug

I think thats it !!! - oh one despairing but very understanding husband

he currently fully clipped and sweats in his lightweight turnout and lightweight stable !!

is that too many ??

I am down to 4 for the winter.
I have an Arab, AQHA, APHA and a QHx of my own. None clipped.

They live out 24/7 with shelters etc, etc.
Mainly dry here, but it gets quite cold and windy.

I possess:

5 medium turnouts, no necks.
1 medium turnout with neck.
4 cotton summer sheets.
3 whitney blankets (not rugs) oh, and a quarter sheet.

That's it.

Mine are in light work, out at night all year round and in during the day, they are native and cob types, unclipped and good do-ers.

They each have
one lightweight Weatherbeeta rain sheet
lightweight Fal turnout rug with neck
medium weight Horseware turnout rug
medium weight Weatherbeeta turnout with neck
heavy weight Fal turnout rug
Mark Todd or Premier Equine heavyweight turnout with neck
Weatherbeeta fleece
Weatherbeeta cooler
Thermatex
heavy weight Horseware or Weatherbeeta stable rug
a fly rug.

Last year they both wore both of their light weight turnouts, their medium weight turnouts with necks and fleeces but that was it
laugh.gif

George has:

A shires fleece cooler; 2 weatherbeeta fly rugs (with necks); a masta summer sheet; 2 zoglo summer sheets in different colours; a mark todd medium combo t/o; a rambo half neck medium t/o; another rambo medium t/o without any neck; a rambo heavyweight t/o without neck; a rambo heavyweight t/o with full neck; a rhino heavyweight stable; a rhino medium weight stable; a weatherbeeta lightweight stable; a weatherbeeta lightweight turnout; 4 non-branded medium-heavyweight stable rugs which he came with. He is also soon to have a born to roll rug. I am seeling some of the above rugs so it is deceptive. The issue being that we lost our mare in July and a lot of the rugs she had were better so he now has loads he doesn't need (they were both 6').

Lanky has:
A rambo bug buster; a premier equine sweet itch sheet; 2 heavy stable rugs - both weatherbeeta; 1 medium stable from weatherbeeta; 1 lightweight stable by saxon; heavyweight weatherbeeta combo t/o; mediumweight weatherbeeta combo t/o; weatherbeeta lightweight t/o; weatherbeeta cooler. He is soon to have a snuggy hood as well, ready forthe next round of sweet itch.
