Both of my boys are long (ish) in the back. My older one did Medium dressage and novice BE. His confirmation is poor long back, short legs, short neck and small feet for his body size. We retired him to a hacker last year as he developed ring bone. Some would say its his confirmation others cos he had a long competition life and at 18 was ready for it....
My new boy is slightly long backed but is long legged and neck too (17hh 6'9 rug size if that helps!). But importantly for me he has very clean joints and good feet. That's what I wanted to mainly look for when buying. Also due to incorrect riding he had a HUGE muscle under his neck at 4 I thought I could correct this and a year on its nearly gone!
I would say its wants important to you, if you think you could manage it or your not hugely bothered about it and the horse is healthy then why not?
