Is that a chifney? Not a great look for a sales ad IMO
It’s a racing yard- they will be lead in a chifney as standard

Unfortunately if that were to happen, and his pasterns did drop, it would make his front leg conformation even worse and I already think they're poor from the photos as they are now. It could be the photo angle but the near fore is particularly weak.
I don't think it would. I think his front leg conformation is like that because he doesn't want to weight his heels. I've seen "over at the knee" horses come straight when they can stand comfortably on their own feet. Obviously we'd need to see the horse in person to know what was causing it.

It's not the over at the knee that bothers me (and I actually don't think he is very over the knee).
It's from the cannon bone down and the foot being so far forward of the knee, rather than under it, that I don't like.
He also might not have thrush and just has that leg conformation- my welshie has similar with the foot forward of the leg and I don't like it on him, however he was bought to be a companion primarily and anything he does ridden wise is a bonus!
I do agree they could just be bad photos though and you'd need to see him in person to decide that
However unless he was very, very, close, those photos wouldn't make me jump in the car.
I've got a soft spot for long pasterns because they often make for a smooth ride but I've never had a long pastern horse long enough to know whether they cause long term soundness issues.
Doesn’t look like he’ll be easy to fit a saddle to? He’s very typical flat TB conformation to me. Not the sort that would interest me.
Please do not pay a deposit before you view, unless you are happy to lose it. It is such a common scam nowadays, I would rather take the risk of it getting sold from under meI decided to leave that gelding based on his conformation and movement in the videos. Thanks all
My bad luck continues from my sick note mare to trying to find another..
I was suppose to see a gelding last month, at a race yard. Spoke in detail, discussed price. He sounded perfect. Arranged to view that weekend then I get a message to say the owners have found someone else but I sound very suitable so if it falls through they’ll be in touch.
Another gelding at a race yard, spoke in detail and again he sounded ideal. Received videos, Arranged to view him the next evening and started to get excited. Received a message to say the owner wants him to go to a friend of hers.
I saw a gelding for sale yesterday, he looked perfect in all the photos. Asked for some videos and received them. Asked if I could view him Friday (and would be happy to pay a holding deposit as I’ve had several unluckily sell from under me)
Not had a response back since.. I’ve got their number so going to call in a couple of hours if I don’t get anything.
This is so draining![]()
I think the OP was offering a small deposit (as an indication of her serious intent to buy) rather than the seller requesting it. Which is a bit different. Please do not pay a deposit before you view, unless you are happy to lose it. It is such a common scam nowadays, I would rather take the risk of it getting sold from under me
Message all your local trainers directly. Say what sort of size you are looking for. It's going to be binning time very soon for flat horses so a good time.I decided to leave that gelding based on his conformation and movement in the videos. Thanks all

Was just about to suggest her too. What part of the country are you in? Sophie Spiteri in Aberporth, West Wales always has ex racers in and could possibly be worth a call to see if she has anything suitable?
Thank you GC but out of budget sadly.https://www.nfed.co.uk/cgi-bin/clas...lay_db_button=on&db_id=187358&query=retrieval she's so pretty
No idea where you are and doesn't say she's ex racer but I was on this thread and saw her at the same time!
I’ve spoken to Sophie before but she’s 4 hours each way and I haven’t seen anything she has I’m interested in yetWas just about to suggest her too.
Poor boy. He looks so worried in the first photo. I hope someone gives him a kind home. I really dislike how racing churns these ponies out and then sells them off like the yellow sticker fruit and veg in the CoOp when they don't make the grade.
Good. I hope they keep him and don't mind that he's a bit wonky. My last mare met that criteria but we had a some lovely years together as a gentle hack. They shared that he’s now found a home![]()
Thanks YCBM. Going to wait for something else to come along I think.
I’ve viewed 6 horses now, all ex racers and all but 1 has been noticeably lame. One was 2.5 hours away.. I didn’t get a video before because the owner was elderly and unable to video, plus only raced 2 weeks ago so assumed she wouldn’t be lame.
Seems difficult to get a sound ex racer!
