Well I have managed to sell my lil companion pony, she goes to her new home next week.:)
But am thinking about acquiring a youngster to act as a companion to the one left when I go to shows etc, but not sure what breed to buy
Am looking for something from weaning to possibly 3yrs old, although not really looking for anything that needs backing right now :)
I would prefer a dun / buckskin or possible another unique (ish) colour, to make approx 15hh, gelding/colt depending on age preferred by OH not me as i'd be fine with a mare, but already have one slightly opinionated one
Something abit like this http://www.donedeal.co.uk/horses-for-sale/quality-half-bred-connie-15-1h-5-yrs/5309626 although doesn't have to be quite so fine build wise.
So any good tips on studs/dealers or auctions or any private ads appreciated. Not looking to buy one til after we get back from holiday end of August.
Or any views on breeds that make nice alrounders, not looking for anything too buzy so have kind of ruled out welsh D's :D

thanks

:)
ets I've not bought a horse before, the two I already have were bought by my mum, although I was present when my mare was purchased, so am abit new to this horse shopping malarkey :o

I actually quite like this one but not sure if I want a grey as will get paler :( he's also probably gonna get too big.

I have a Connemara x Irish sports horse and honestly couldn't of gotten a better horse. She is the nicest horse I have had and I bought her from her breeder straight from the field as a 3 year old last year.
Her breeder is very lovely and really cares about all her horses and finding them good homes. The stud is Whitley village stud and she has a few youngsters for sale from foals to 3 year olds. They all have lovely temperaments.

Eta- Just to say, I'm not advertising before anyone pushes the button. I won't be gaining anything from the breeder selling her young stock.

In a word yes. As far as getting your eye in and seeing what type you like, a sale will give you the opportunity to see so so so many at teh one time.

There is also the Connemara Olympics, in Clifden, in August 15th-18th. The classes are huge, and everything from foals to performance ponies, over-height hunters etc. basically every type of Connemara you can imagine will be there. The classes are massive-40+ in some, and almost everything is for sale. If you can't find what you like in Clifden you can't find it anywhere!

Cavan and Goresbridge have Connemara pony sales as well, Cavan on 11th October and 15th November, http://www.horsesportireland.ie/_fileupload/Antonette/Cavan Sales Date 2013.pdf and Goresbridge on December 5th (they are both googleable). http://www.irishhorse.com/sport-horse-sales/upcoming-sales/

2nd Whitley Village Stud (again no connections ) I bought an unbroken 4 year old Whitley Village Connie x ID last year and sold him unadvertised earlier this year, could have sold him 10x. Taking on a youngster isn't always easy though. 'Kevin' went through a real teenager phase before he became the nice mannered kind natured horse I sold to an experienced home.
