I’m seriously considering ovary removal for my 13.3 hh new forest mare. She is a very talented pony but is just so grumpy and unpredictable. She s been in Regumate for 18months which eased her bad behaviour slightly but not completely. The vet has scanned her ovaries and it showed she is still ovulating even on the Regumate. He suggested taking her off it and seeing what happens. She’s been off it for three weeks and has turned into a monster and goes and then the other horses are out of sight. He has said the marble isn’t very successful. He said to think about removing her ovaries, obviously this is a very big decision as it’s very expensive and their is no guarantee she will be better?
Has anyone had any experience of this procedure and the costs involved?
